Block is the tip of the iceberb, its then 2 grands worth of machining and liners, anda few hundred quid for new longstuds unless he gets lucky and managed to get his out.

Expensive business, gotta be looking at a 5 grand bill realistically for 1.5 thousandths of an inch of movement!

Dave's block was built up by Mark Shead for Ranj MANY years ago mate, before even Julian Godfrey new about the weakness.

First time I heard of them myself was till about 2005 and I think I was only a couple of years at most behind anyone finding out.

So when the block was bought and machined Mark had NO reason to doubt it.

Id told him by the time they did Rod's but they had already had the machining done at that stage, so figured it was worth a go esssentially, but on Dave/Ranj's one, they really hadnt a clue at that stage

Not good news Dave. What is it that actualy happened does the block flex and let the liners move, i thought the point of the dear liners was to stop flex/expansion.

The block itself moves, its not longer the same shape as it started, but the tiniest of margins but its enough to play having with the liners and gasket sealing, as they are desinged for no movement.

Ah right chipper, fair enough. A few people has had problems with those Turk blocks when they are hitting 500bhp+ Euan for example

so what is the safe power level for a turkish block, Mid 400's?

Is this the Performance Ford car? If so awesome but must have cost a fortune already to get to that, now this, surely you must be thinking petrol and matches To tune a cosworth to that level is really gonna be trial and error and you must have a big bank balance like the tuner has!!!!

Just was so looking forward to doing some shows this this year and going back to Brunters with Redline Mag
Dave don't give up and break it, I reckon you would regret it in the future.

My personal belief is that the casting standards werent consistant, so some might be fine at 600 and others might fail at 400

Total lottery IMHO

Sorry to here this dave, but i have some experience with fitting liners and you always get "Liner Sink" no matter how good you machine them.

The block may not be the problem !

Gutted for you mate, but not surprised... as soon as you told me the symptoms and said that you thought it was the 'old' head gasket at Lorraines party I said to Maria.... 'nope... thats a cracked block'

Didn't wanna say anything in case it wasn't.

sorry Dude

Fuck the liners and all that Jazz.... rebuild to decent level... Just rebuild to around 600bhp or less even and either enjoy the car or break it.

Stop chasing the 200mph mate as its going to keep hurting you big time!

Personally I'd sell the ubercool but not needed bling inlet to fund the rebuild. Just my opinion...

I would have thought on a 600BHP engine a certain amount of rebuild costs should be considered.

Rally teams rebuild after every rally dont they? and they are half the power.

Dont forget its a very high stage of tune.

The ultimate cosworth though, Depends if you would sacrafice the ultimate escos for the sake of 4-5k. Youre in so deep already and its not as if the cars gonna be worth peanuts afterwards, I would imagine it would get 25k in an instance.
