There people in this country as good as he is.
For the power you want why not just use Darren, as he has done mega power cossie as well, and has engine dyno's flow benches etc, been doing this for over 20 years too.

What would you know, you still think Nick lives in Spain ?

I think you will find that he has / is about to move(d) back to the UK .

You need to use someone who has the ability to do the exhaust ports properly. The amount of alleged "pro" jobs I have seen where the middle of the exhaust port is left standard size (because it is hard to get to) is unbelievable .

Incidentally, I forgot to add that Nick used to do all the top works heads for Mountune and all the F1 heads for TWR when they were in F1 . He gained 60bhp for them when he first went over to them .

He's also one of the few people that seems to understand how to port Zetec heads for turboing as well .

60 bhp gain from just head work, hard to beleive they were that shit to start with, certainly wouldn't be in F1 etc so bad that you could gain that much.

This was in the early days of the TWR team, they didn't have the huge budgets of the other teams and yes their engines were really that shit compared to everyone elses when they first started .

He was that good that he was the only person that was allowed to do the heads on the Ford works cars when Mountune ran the rally engine dept for Ford. His heads were always better than anyone elses that despite having the choice of where to get them done, Nick was always the man chosen.

If you saw a Waples head, you would know why.

Steve Pacey did the head on my cosworth which was a work of art.

there's a lot more to porting a head than a top end power gain though, isn't there?

He has only recently done the ones up to 25mm and 26mm (400bhp), all the big port ones are still done by Nick.

Nicks heads DO give a lot more than just peak figures.

Some of his Vauxhall heads are incredible and I know the same has been said about the others he does.

I know there is, but just for the benefit what other gains do you get from porting a head?

You port a head to increase the VE of the engine.. the art of porting a head well is knowing the best port design to ensure gas velocity stays as high as possible throughout the flow-range of the engine..

nicks cossies heads are good but there are other people who do as good a head job. Mike gives good head too I hear.
I have seen many cossie heads used plenty of nicks and also peter jones heads, the latter are nicer and more accurate IMO but dearer

No, Mike loves Nick's heads . He's had too much of a hard paper-round for me .

I never even knew Peter Jones did heads . How does he find the time in between Dragon's Den and his investment portfolio ?

Neil Roper is worth a mention too

www.neilroperdevelopments.com

Another guy who actually knows the score and does a pukka job of what works not just does it how people want to see it (ie huge at the bits you see, lol)

Like Nick Waples he also has an impressive Formula1 and Ford CV including working on the works RS200 motors etc.

And he is UK based and an easy guy to do business with.
