Default Please Help (Cleaning Car) and LOOK (New Car lol)

My Skoda Octavia vRS arrived yesterday (Had the dealer deliver it down as my anxiety attacks wouldn't allow me to travel to Oxford. I thought I would give her a wash today as we're off out tonight to meet some mates

My problem is I now have friggin water marks on the windows and in places on the paint (Yep, I left it too long before getting out the chamois). It dont look bad, but Im a fussy bastid I have only washed a car 3 times in 2 years and need some advice on decent products to use?? Wash, polish, glass cleaner, etc. (Will re-wash car on Sunday and sort out the water marks if I can)... Anyway, here's how she looks

P.S. I thought I would put 12mts TAX on due to increasing prices at some point. £210

Detailing spray would sort water marks.
Being black a polish and wax never hurts, bastard colour for defects.

Where do you start...lol
Being black got to be careful, shows so badly.
Cleanyourcar.com or similar is what I use.
4 litres of Megs last touch is about £20 but makes up 8 litres of spray, and has many uses.
A lambswool washmitt, sponges are bad news.
A microfibre drying towel say Sonus.
Just for starters, prevention of defects.

As for polishing, hand or machine?!
By hand will struggle being VAG, most likely rock hard, so doing it yourself need a polish with decent fillers, like autoglym super resin polish.
Then a wax, victoria concours is a fave of many now for great results and price etc.
Tip of the iceberg this

Sidewayz, I prefer the earlier ones for looks. The grill on the newer ones is too big and looks pants lol

Cheers Cally, got some autoglym at home, so will see how it goes with them. Will try getting a lambwool mit also. Cheers

Also you want a sonus green claybar, can be used with megs last touch, or get a megs clay detailing kit - won't believe the crap it'll remove that polishing won't.
Being such a nice dark black, treat yourself to some decent wax like the victoria concours, be criminal not to.
This is all just to help you realise a good result from your effort, even the best wax applied to paint in a poor state just won't look that good.

Copper who attended an accident me and workamte had had one in that colour, what a state that was in
Said it went well though.

I wouldn't use Autoglym SRP on a black car, it leaves an annoying white dust which you have to go round after to get off. I can highly recommend Poorboys polish with carnauba blue.

It's worthwhile using quality shampoo, something like Meguiars Gold Class car wash, then a clay with Meguiars Quik Clay. I use the Poorboys now because it's a sort of polish/wax combo but you get good results with Meguars Gold Class Liquid Wax.

You can use the Poorboys on glass too and it comes up great, however, DON'T use it on the windscreen.

Leeroy - I used it for the first time the other day, and on a jet black freelander, seemed dust free enough - maybe I applied it more lightly than you. But then I also use megs last touch when buffing, another use for it....
I remember my turtlewax days though, would have to wash the bloody thing after polishing or waxing

C4llyT, in fairness I haven't used Autoglym for a couple of years so they may have tweaked it, and I'm not one for applying sparingly.

If you haven't tried the Poorboys before then consider it, you won't be disappointed.
