Do your research. I was offered a job there and ended up staying here in the US. The main thing for me was I didn’t see myself living there for a long period, maybe a couple of years and then move.
There are some expat forums I checked out and it really was mixed opinions about the place.

you should be fine in expat areas and hotels etc...(possibly also ok with alcohol in hotels etc...)in my experience of the gulf they accept that you are foreign etc,BUT......dont like you to show affection between men and women in public, even holding hands is a no no (couple i was with got spat on in the street for this!!!) although its fine to do this between men for some reason (women for babies men for fun type thing!). if the mrs is out in public then its best for her to cover up modestly.there are LOADS of things to do for brits etc out there, lots of people about to help and loads of things to do that you just CANT over here.another thing,if you are in a road accident and the police arrive,do NOT sign anything they give you, make sure you have an interpreter there etc first,as they try to get foreigners to sign that they are at fault!!!!!and dont go walking around topless,if nothing else, admiring glances from arabic men are enough to make you feel a little sick!!!

Seriously considering it, got a few meetings in London to discuss the offer further at the end of next week and then i'll make my final decision with the missus next weekend (although I dont think she needs pursuading). They have shown me the accom that is on offer it's only been lived in for 6 months before it's stunning. Can see myself working from home on a lilo lol!
Tell Lee to reply to my last PM!!
You 2 should get yourselves to Dubai as well, we'll get an F430 and you get a porka GT and we'll alternate lol

He's actually working for once....
I think he is seriously thinking about it... he has a meeting pretty soon to discuss it further, then it'll be over there for a long weekend to check things out and take it from there!!!
I like the sound of the cars too! although you'd have to shoehorn me OUT of the F430!

Just remembered I know someone who's moved there permanently, if you want me to put you in touch with him I can try.
The person mentionned above said that despite popular belief there's a lot of fake jewelery, watches, etc... being sold even in some of the top hotels. What you look at isn't always what ends up in the box you take away apparently.
All that in spite of the fact that the retailers risk loosing their right to operate in those hotels if/when found out.

Its a no brainer.
Good bye mate
I could well be seeing you out there in a few months...
Oh and you won't come back... no one ever does!
you might move out somewhere like Abu dhabi which is a bit more relaxed than Dubai though.
great weather, lovely pace of life, zero crime, LOW LOW taxes...

I've been to dubai five times in my lifetime(21years) and absolutly love the place. My father has a friend who got a job there, lived in an fenced neighbourhood with guards, gate, tenniscourt and swimmingpool. It's, in my opinion, the perfect place to live. But can be too hot in the summer, thank god for A/C.
My father's friend also lives in thailand now, got an offer there after the dubai-job

my brother was offered a job out there
the only problem is that we've been out there and as asians you almost always get labeled as a local and the locals who are actual locals tend to think you are taking the piss
so he's going to sydney
but if you aren't of asian/indian/middle eastern/mediteranian look then you should have no bother at all
