Default shower help pls peolpe . whats the difference between...

a manual power shower and a thermastatic power shower ?

mine has just giving up the will to live and i need a direct replacement so its a easy fit.

ive found a "thermostatic" power shower for sale but it looks identical to mine . but i dont know if mine is a normal power shower or a thermostatic power shower ?

what is the difference ?

Thermostatic showers automatically keep the temperature constant.

Manuals don't, thats the only difference.

Thats a new one on me fella

A power shower dosn't have mains feed, thats an electric shower,

a power shower has an integral pump to boost pressure.

You've probably confused the poor bloke now

There not known as electric power showers no.

They are known in the trade as "power showers" or "electric showers"

which are completely different types of showers.

Anyway thats not the original question, and that I have answered

And I think I know what I'm on about, I've been in the trade 23 years

Electric shower - mains fed.
Pumped electric shower - Cistern/tank fed
Thermostatic power shower - hot and cold tank supply. Which will maintain the set temperature provided you have hot water.
Non thermostatic power shower, Same as above but you can get scalded if someone flushes a toilet downstairs. Same as what Turboboy says really!

Would depend on your type of boiler as to weather you need thermostatic or non thermostatic. Combi boilers do not work with thermostatic showers

If it stays constant, then yes you have a thermostatic shower.
