Default just got pulled 101mph

i just got pulled over on the M2 for an average speed of 101.11 mph. the first copper asked me why i thought they had pulled me and i said prob something to do with speed.
She asked what how fast i thought i was going and i said about 90. she then said i wasn't far off and it was 101.
They sat me in the car and showed me the computer thing which calculates average speed.
The one in the car said my driving was absolutely perfect, smooth and controlled except for the fact i was speeding, and was actually telling me how easy it is to not realise how fast you can go in a mondeo v6. They were decent coppers.

He said that because it was over 100 they have to summons me to court.

now i am a proffesional driver (bus driver) with no points. he reckons i might get away with a hefty fine rather than a ban.

anyone else have an idea? could i get banned for doing 1mph over the cutoff limit with no points on my license or could it be instant ban and £xxxx fine?

The cut off speed is 95mph when they usually send you to court under 95 is a fixed penalty but it will depend on the judge on the day.

My mate got clocked at 104 2 years ago and he went to court personally to plead his case so they could see he was a normally sensible bloke who made a mistake.

He apologised and got £200 and 6 points

imo I don't think they'll ban you and make you unemployed. Magistrates will give you a slap on the wrist and a BIG fine!! Do it again though and that would be different.

Unhappy speeding

one of my mates got caught at 101 miles an hour, as 100mph is supposed to be an instant ban his brief contested the accuracy of the gun and they dropped the speed to 99mph he just got a fine and some points, but really depends on the day. they should take into account you make a living out of your licence.

I got caught on my turbo blade a few years ago at 99 mph. The copper showed me the read out but said as i was polite, wearing all the right gear and pulled over as soon as i saw him he would write it up as 95 to make sure i didn't go to court.

Ended up with 3 points and sixty quid fine. I was very grateful to him.

I'm off to Court Friday afternoon for doing and average of 105 so will let you know the outcome. Been advised by the solicitor that it can be either 6 point and a big fine or up to a 55 day ban.

Unfortunately the courts are being a lot stricter on these sort of things now.

I was charged with doing 110mph

I got 28 days ban ( only 1 week and 1 day left!!! ) and £510 fine.

Personally, i wouldnt waste your time with exspensive soliciotrs, just plead guilty but include a letter of mitigation.

Plead, plead, plead and plead, saying you will lose your job if you lose your licence, which in turn will affect your children/wife/pet dog/ mother etc etc and say you are genuinely remorseful and it will never ever happen again. Also state in the letter you have had a clean licence for how ever many years you have been driving!

If you can get a supporting letter from your employer, this WILL DEFINTELY help!

If you need any help just pm me

Anything which is 30mph over the speed limit is supposed to result in an instant ban.

its fooking crap the way they are with speeding.you can get let off for smashing a blokes face in or stealing a car etc but they find it easy to pick on the speeding motorist.i drive better when im driving fast.im more alert.and i frequently am ove 120(i know i shouldnt be but when the roads are good its easy)
what fucks me off is the fact the cocks who sit in the middle lane/dont indicate/sit in the fsat lane not using mirrors/tailgaters etc all get left alone

good luck though bud

if you are a bus driver, there was a thing about getting banned meaning you needed to retake your test again or even something baout you not being able to get your bus bit back again, althought i'm not sure if this is just for dd'ing

make sure you get every eveuntuality covered and get even the duty soliciter at the court to look up what you could possibly get

a letter from your boss, signed by your boss, not a random letter generated with a pp from the bosses pa, stating that you are an impecable employee etc will also help

good luck, but tell your company the moment the letter comes through the door rather than now

also chat to the union rep as there is something about getting insured for loss of your license for anything other than dd, i found the certificate the other day stating i could get upto £7k if i lost my license, depending on how long it was for, medical, driving points totted up, banned and the like

i got done for 101mph about 3 years ago in norfolk (it was in a 70mph limit on the A11 dual carriageway, caught by a talivan)

i already had 3 points.

i was advised to turn up to the court, and not just plead guilty by post. they think you are taking it more serious if you turn up.

wear a suit, and dont be arsey with them, dont query the accuracy of the cam/speedgun cos it puts their back up.

i got a letter from my boss saying i would lose my job if i got a temp ban, so they give me £350 fine and 6 points. during the court hearing they really wanted to give me a short ban (between 2 - 6 weeks is what they can give for this speed) but i wangled out of it.

in hindsight i wished i got a short ban instead of having all them points hanging over me for so long.

at the end they will ask you to pay the fine there and then, say "no i've forgot my cards" then you can make the fookers wait til the last poss day before paying.

if it was clear weather, daylight, not much traffic etc say all this in your mitigating circumstances.

you will get loads of people saying "your getting a massive ban for that", dont listen to them, i didnt at 101mph and even if you do its only a 2 - 6 week ban.

a week before i was in court a woman was in the SAME court as me caught doing 110mph with a MPV full of kids and only got 3 points and a fine. middle-england type women get lesser sentences....

wait til the last possible day before sending forms in etc, to drag the whole process out.

I think it will be Ban City too. Probably just a short one though.

They're crazily strict on speeding up Aberdeen way due to there being a high number of road deaths in the last couple of years. A mate just got 8 points and a large fine for 64mph in a 30mph zone.

I got caught doing 99.6 about 4 years ago and got 6 points and a £250 fine. The officer that pulled me over was really good and told me that if i had been doing 94mph or under it would have just been the standard FPN.

Good luck.

I got clocked by the gun doing 102mph, saw the copper swiftly run back to the T5 give chase and catch me due to me taking the most stupid turning to try and evade them... Anyway had to go to court. My solicitor spoke to the procurator fiscal and due to there being a possible 5% margin of error with the gun, i got 3mph taken off and pleaded guilty to 99mph. I got 6 points and a £300 fine. the sherriff told me that if it was 100+ i would have been banned.

What i find funny is you saying you thought you might be doing 90mph, i said that too

I got done doing 125mph on a dual carriageway, when I first bought my CBR600 back in 1995.

All I got was an SP30 (he actually put down 95mph on the ticket) and a reminder to ALWAYS use my mirrors when giving it some. The copper had been up my chuff for over 2 miles, blue and twos, but my head was buried on the tank.

Tbh..... the copper was really sound and it made me so much more aware of things around me.

I must admit, it never twigged that i could actually get banned until he said "You do realise this is a banning offence!"..... my arse dropped to the floor.
