Not quite. The LNB will need to be changed and you will need to run and another cable to the Sky+ box. Then call Sky to enable the Sky+ features.

sky now matches your card to the box, so if you don't get this done you only get the free to air channels

Just ring Sky on 08442 414141, options 5, 3 and then 5 (this is the cancellations dept).

Tell them that you are no longer happy with the value for your money and wish to cancel unless they are prepared to supply and fit Sky+ FOC.

I did that 2 days ago with Multi-room and once I had "formally" agreed to cancel, they gave me Sky+ box to replace my one downstairs, a new Sky (normal) one upstairs, and are installing it all for free shortly with multi-room thrown in. Oh, and my bill is dropping from Ł45 per month for SkyWorld down to Ł36 for the same package

NO

My mate gave me a sky+ box and LNB, just replaced my LNB plugged the box in and away I went, with normal Sky, on my old card, still worked on the other Sky+ box .
Looked into it on the web and said that Sky+ was no more per month than what I already had, ie no extra monthly cost for it.
So I rang em up to find out and yep sure enough they said they could activate it there and then for me over the phone for free, guy was a bit surprissed I had managed to set it all up on my own pmsl.
The only thing they said was I needed the box connected to the phone line so it could transfer data etc, I aint had mine connected for years and told em there was no way to connect to a line, no problem the switch on girl said, she told me what menus to go to, read her some info, which she manualy typed into her pc and within a few mins it was switched on, it would allow me to record .
BUT it took a few hours before I could actually watch what id recorded lol , obviously took a bit longer for everything to compleat. BUT anyway yes you can and no it wont cost you a penny more
