Sky+ question
not 100% sure i can do this so i wondered if anyone else had done it.
i have got sky+ down stairs and a normal sky box upstairs in our bedroom. if i was to buy a sky+ box and replace the normal sky box, will it work as normal? i.e i can live pause & record etc?

Do you have a single cable or a double in the bedroom?
It will work anyway with a single but you will need to go into the installer menu and turn the box onto single feed mode which is easy to do.
Obv you wont be able to record 2 channles or record one while watching one tho.
If you dont change it to single feed mode it will fail alot of recordings etc.

For the cost of a Sky+ box and installing a second feed you'd be aswell upgrading your main box to HD and relocate your Sky+ box. It would cost £30 install and £10 per month for HD stations.

I dont get SKY TV any more, its so bloody expensive. Free View and Free Sat have more than enough channels to keep me busy. My PS3 acts as a FreeView recorder, but you can buy them quite cheaply now and you may want to look out for the FreeView HD boxes. Best of all no subscription fees.
If I want to watch football I go to Justin.tv. Other TV series I download, and soon enough Love Film will be on the PS3 too so I can stream rental movies.
I mean how much is a Sky subscription on two boxes in a home these days?

Multiroom alone is £10 a month
So for £18 a month you are getting sky, broadband and telephone?
Do you not have any channel packages with that?
My multiroom with 1HD box is near £60 a month and that doesnt even have the sports channels but has everything else.

It's actually from £29 per month. 1 mix is £19 plus £10 for multiroom, with that you can get free evening/weekend calls if you have BT line rental and broadband everyday lite Or pay £11 and have the line with Sky too.

I pay £25 a month for phone and broadband. That £35 difference is a couple of nights down the local for me!
But then again, I generally don't watch much TV and the Mrs is quite happy with the stuff in normall tv, so I guess it's a life style choice.
