Default Anyone use LPG?

Thinking of converting my ervey day car (Peugeot 406) to run on LPG. Have had a look on internet and there seems to be a lot of kits out there, can anyone recommend a kit or give me some pointers of what to look out for?

if you spend Ł500 on a kit and an extra couple of hundred fitting it, thats a HELL of a lot of miles to recouperate the cost.

I have been using LPG since mid January in a Focus 2.0 16v...

General rule of thumb on 'economy' is that whatever the car would normally get MPG wise, reduce by approx 10-20%.

To roughly convert MPG whilst running on gas to the equivalent of running a petrol or diesel car, a couple of quick calculations are needed.... for example:

My car returns 'approx' 25mpg whilst running on gas. My gas price locally is generally 46.9p / litre, petrol is currently about 110 and diesel 120 / litre. Petrol is therefore about 2.3 times the price, and diesel about 2.5 times the price.

25mpg x 2.3 = equivalent of 57.5 if running petrol
25mpg x 2.5 = equivalent of 62.5 if running diesel

So essentially, unless i can find a diesel that can return around 60mpg whilst doing 90mph down the motorway, its cheaper to run on gas!

Hope this helps!

If you have a nice petrol powered car, i think its generally about Ł1500 to convert to LPG by a reputable dealer using a well known make of LPG kit.

In my own situation, with a Focus that would do around 30mpg on petrol at 90mph on the motorway, LPG works out about 1/2 the cost.

I do 25000miles a year.... this would cost Ł2130 at 46.9p / litre at 25mpg average on LPG.
On petrol, 25000miles at 30mpg average would be Ł4160 per year. As you can see, the kit would pay for itself in less than a year!

Obviously the figures will change dependant on how economical your original petrol car is - i happen to be working with a 2.0 focus which is never that great on petrol...

(I hope my maths is correct witht he above figures... i've been up since 5am and have driven 500+ miles today looking at cars, so am pretty knackered and am susceptical to f**k ups!)

hi there, i had my 4.6 range rover converted to gas and this is what i found.
a full tank of petrol would do 400 miles 95 pounds to fill it
a full tank of gas would do 200 miles 36 pounds to fill it.
for me i found it a great saving although the conversion for my v8 was 2400 pounds.
thats all the figures hope this helps

i have a 2.3 galaxy running on gas. haven't done enough miles with it to really calculate the figures, but a quick calc on the last tank of lpg showed about 16 mpg which is not great. however, the LPG is half the price of petrol, so that is an equivalent of 32 mpg on petrol which is acceptable for that size of vehicle.

as for the cost of the conversion, i don't know. i bought it already done for a good price.
