Default Anyone work in a bodyshop/sprayers? Rare paint query.

Hi,

my sister has a VW T4 Transporter in a unique colour known as "Scarab Green" - the paint colour used for all Glasgow City Council vans. There are a few stone-chips she wants to touch up but no one sells the touch-ups pens in this colour. Also went along to the VW dealer who said they didn't stock paint for such a low volume run of vehicles in that colour.

She does however have the paint code/offical name - would a bodyshop be either able to source this paint for an aerosol can/touch-up pen, or mix paint and provide it in a touch-up/aerosol can?

Cheers,

Agar

as long as she has a code any motor factors or bodyshops will be able to help you..

Only problem is, a lot of places will be using waterbourne paint which is shit for touching up!!!

Thanks Matt - my view was that any bodyshop wouldn't be interested in wasting thier time mixing a small touch-up pen, would it really be worth thier while? Any ideas how much places charge for this?

She is considering getting her bumpers colour coded and asking for the bodyshop to keep some paint spare for a touch -up pen.

halfords do it mate. Not neccessarily that colour but worth asking. Its about 8 quid for a custom touch up pen ( i think off the top of my head - fellow halfords employees confirm this for me please)

Taycos - Will give them a try too thanks.

Thanks so far.

I used a paint supplier in Glasgow years ago when I needed to quietly repair a wing mirror on a company Omega!

Sadly I can't recall the name or district, but I found them using Google, so have a search about on there.
