I can see why you all smoked, it wasn't so bad back when you started and you are all coming off them, or trying which is great. However, what I don't get is how you can see teenagers of today smoking? Idiots.

im off them 5 years in a weeks time, can honestly say it gets easier as time goes on,the night i gave them up i was on the phone to a mate[talking shite as usual]for about an hour ,when i hungup i had smoked 12 fags,i got such a shock and got totally disgusted with myself i havent smoked since.ps everyone should read the alan carr book as it puts into perspective how your every moment is centred around fags.

Nice one Smit
I've never smoked but I've bitten my nails since I was 15. I tried these www.hypnosisdirect.com I spent £5 on a download and it's been 2months so far. Best £5 I ever spent.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
i gave up smoking on the 8th of january because i'd had engough of shelling out £7.50 a on fags, i had had engough of the cost and thats the main reason i gave up, i did use patches for 3 days then chewing gum for 5 weeks but been off everything for , well it feels like ages now, however if this goverment of complete iddiots and tossers and a whole host of other names ever put tax down so much that smoking is back to £1 a packet ill start again! i loved smoking and miss it like mad, the only thing i dont miss is the caughing, the smell, any one thinking of doing it get it done easier than i ever thought!

lol makes me laugh everyone on here saying how they dont miss it and dont EVER feel like another one.
Maybe you all dont, I dont know but I spoken to alot of other people that say they still miss it years down the line, or for instance will still reach for a fag after a meal or when drinking etc, NOT take one, cos they aint got any lol, but there brain still wants to
So whats this book then, loads of people saying read the book BUY the book, some saying they will buy it AGAIN, WHY ? you read it once why do you need to buy it AGAIN ? , surely you know what it says !
Also the people that "dont miss it", makes me laugh how you all know the date times and places you were when you quit, makes it hard to believe you never thinking about smoking or you wouldnt remember the dates so well if you wernt always thinking about it.
Stu, nothing personal mate, ye I smoke, maybe dont do the rigorous workouts you are NOW doing, but I never suffered these tightening pains in my chest, have you ever thought it may be something else NOT smoking related , seriously maybe instead of trying to push your self harder and harder, maybe a check first would be in order and if all is said as ok then go for it (if you know all is by whatever means then fair enough ignore all that lol), just mean none of us getting any younger, and a FIT guy (used to run and trek ride a bike and hunt boar type things with a bow and arrows in Aus) I used to work with 45 years old just had heart attack, oh and no he has NEVER smoked , like I say can happen to anyone.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
17 years on and never tempted any more though in the early days I just had to avoid the pub for a while. That's not a problem for anyone nowadays, though.
Stick the price of your ciggies in a jar every day and just watch the cash build up.

last a week (ish) so 4.50/7= 0.64p a day, wow i will be rich .64x365=£233 a year
sorry if i ever give up it wont be for a money saving (not while i can get it from traders, oh oh must forget im paying the drug dealers of Culmbia or sum mafia gang that, not a little old woman making a bit on the side ) but purely for the reason of my son not seeing me smoke or die thru it
Yes I know it bad for me and one day I will dont argue with any of your arguments just at the moment I LIKE doing it

I didn't say it would work for you or for anyone else but it worked for me. £2.50 (or whatever it was back then) per day every day was £75 each month, every month. As that came out of taxed income stopping smoking was like a £1200 pay rise.
With fags over £5 a packet you can double those numbers, and nearly double the pay-rise if you're on higher rate tax!
