Yeah its a 5 but its a fuel pump issue so nothing weird and wonderfull.


Been at it a while now, basically whats happening is the fuel pump is getting good live and earth but nothing comes of it, so, i replaced the pump and all is well for around 2 miles then it conked out. Same again live and earth but no fuel, i even fed a new live and earth but the pump just flicks, its as tho it has jammed. Can anyone help....

relay on the bulkhead, always fail

there is two pumps on the 5 as well remember, make sure yo have the right one

Well i bypassed relay running a live and earth from battery, Im thinking must be a blockage in the pump via shit in the tank...


Thought the relay was next to fuse box, or is that the bulk head...

its by the ecu in the engine bay isn't it?

been a few years since i had mine

unless i've confused my self with a S2 rs turbo?

does a 5 have an ecu lol its got a carb... gonna have a poke around in the tank. Cheers for replys.

There is something on the bulk head, ill let you know my results.

yeah it does, black box, above the turbo on the early models rear of bulk head on later models,

its more a big coil than ecu

The fuel pump relay is under the dash on the passenger side. Had a gt turbo about 8 years ago and i just used to leave that relay dangling into the footwell so i could get to it easily when it played up (which was a lot!!)

What are you measuring the current with ?
If it is a digi metre or a test light, it could well be a bad connection/corrroded wire that is plenty enough to sugest no problems but not man enough to pass the current needed for the pump.

Fully removed the pump and it has literally jammed, gonna cut it open so idf theres any crap inside it, i ran a seperate feed from battery.
