has anyone supercharged a 2.0 zetec ?
i have a few questions :
what pistons did you use ?
what cams ?
where did you mount it
what supercharger ?
any pics ?
i am thinking of using a eaton charger mounted above the gearbox at the front of the engine and run by a shaft going to a pulley mounted somewhere that the aux belt can go around
is this even possible ?

i think mounting it to the inlet is out of the question though due to clearance problems and not being able to run an I/C

There was a kit manufactured by powerworks mate but unfortunately has been stopped that was configured solely for a 2.0 blacktop. This is essentially a bolt on kit bar the management which had everything you needed to convert a blacktop zetec to supercharged (like that mondeo which is a blacktop engine)
http://www.sportcompactonly.com/Supe...01_pl-2458.htm that is the Powerworks kit.
there is another kit out there by focus sport:
http://www.focussport.com/supercharger.htm again directly for the 2.0 blacktop zetec.
These are all from the states as the UK supplier for powerworks has discontinued then as apparently no more will be made but you can still get them from the US

the trouble is all the off the shelf kits are for the focus and where they are mounted will cause me clearance issues (will be going in a mk3 escort)
my master plan was to mount it just above the gearbox and run a shaft across the front of the engine , then have it going through a front mounted I/C and use a cvh crossover pipe to connect the throttle body to the I/C , i was looking to use c20let pistons to take it to 2.1 and lower the comp then run approx 15psi

I've got an Eaton M45 supercharger from a Mini Cooper S. I'm going to fit it to my BMW 318is when I get round to it, along with some Jenvey throttle bodies I have
I think that supercharger is a good one to use and plenty about fairly cheap with delivery miles on

i have a mondeo 2.0 zetec with the jackson racing M45 eaton supercharger kit from america. its not intercooled, but that kinda appealed to me at the time because it made it a simpler install. with other mods (pulleys swapped to up the boost, cams, headers, big TB, unichip, water injection etc), its 230bhp at the flywheel, and has nitrous on top of that.
it does the bizz, sounds brilliant, is good on fuel, and is nice and reliable (touchwood). its no neck-snapper, but i have a zetec-turbo mondy for that purpose!
there is other zetec kits you can get from USA like the vortech and powerworks which knock out alot more power but they are alot more money. my kit was Ł1500, and you often see them 2nd hand from over there for Ł800 ish (including the sexy inlet manifold, big injectors, etc)

There are a few 318is's with that 'Charger on knocking about.

That E30 though, I think the conversion cost him peanuts really aside from the ECU, so a good idea and 205BHP. A good upgrade

looking at it that would foul the brake servo , it will be ideal if the housing could be rotated to point forwards though then it could run through a fmic and use a cvh crossover to get to the throttle body

You can rotate a Vortec housing outlet.
In the first link, second pic, the 3 screws on the outer edge of the compressor housing only clamp the outlet in place, (more screws and clamps on the other side you can't see) it will spin to any position.

Decided I'm going to use it. As for the TB's, I'll add them at a later date, but the supercharger seems reasonably sraightforward.
Only info I have is for an E30, and while it's the same M42 engine I have, I think there may be a few slight differences in the set-up and things that had to be moved/changed in the E30 engine bay that I might be able to get away without doing or have to do slightly different on the E36
Cheers

Just seen this. I toyed with the rwd idea....but to keep the costs and build time down i stuck with FWD. AS mentioned sadly the Powerworks Blacktop kit is no more, glad i imported mine from the states when i did.....fingers crossed ill be driving the thing in a couple of months!!
