Olympics London 2013
No, not a typo
After the fuck up with Wembley, and now Heathrow T5, what are the chances of anything being done on time for 2012? Very slim I reckon, so look out for the Olympics in 2013 instead of 2012

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Being involved in Construction programming on similar sized projects for many years this country and it's management have never had realistic timescales when it comes to major projects, Millenium dome, wembley, T5 etc, they are all over budget and programme because management who have never worked at the business end believe that Rome was built in a day
When you actually look at what has been acheived with some of these projects in the particulat construction time we are way ahead of the rest of the world.

Bejing Airport has made our efforts with Terminal 5 look micky mouse!!!
Twice as big
Half the cost
built in one third of the time.
Any comments?

It appears on face value that it's so great but I'd hardly call T5 mickey mouse, especially when you take into account the geography of site it had to be constructed within. I don't know much about Beijing airport but suspect that space wasn't a major concern to them. The cost of labour would have a direct impact on the build time if you're comparing costs like for like in sterling.
Also China is experiencing large growth in it's steel industry so materials costs/ logistics will be cheap.

As In China they threw labour at it which was cheap as chips, they dont have the back breaking legislations that construction has to adhear to over here. It did not have to build in a confined space while still keep very close and very major infrastructure open etc.

Bit unfair to compare imo.
