Question, does everyone on Tiscali have the same brand of router/modem?

Some of the "free router etc etc" deals on offer at the moment; the kit is utter junk! Causes no end of problems.

Try a decent branded router, you will be surprised what a difference it makes to Internet connection reliability!

The router used at my folks place is the same as at mine, only difference being the ISP so we can rule the routers out

Tiscali have admitted problems to me today with piping band shaping and LLU at some exchanges. Armed with that info I phoned Pipex up (my original BB supplier) and spoke to a guy in Manchester called Andrew. He couldn't have been any more helpful if he tried, and recommended I pulled out of Tiscali sharpish, there would be no cancellation fee's and no problems getting my MAC code.

Paul,
IB Admin has explained in the other thread that there is a problem for us on Tiscali with one of the hops into where Pf is hosted. Thats why its this site and no other causing the problems for us. Who's problem that actually is has yet to be resolved.

Lets get nostalgic

I got this displayed from another site and remembered the good old days.

I use a NetGear Modem/Router and Linksys wireless router not the poor Sagem modem I got when I signed up.

Yep...

Got this message from Euroconnex, who I sent an inquiry to:
eUKhost has notified us of this issue, at this present time there is an issue between Tiscali and Telia link, the two companies are major world wide carriers. We have contacted tiscali in regards to this issue however they have not provided us an update. If you have any further questions feel free to let me know.

Update...
The problem seems to be due to capacity issues on the Tiscali peering network, where they peer with other ISPs in the UK. Customers who have direct connections to Tiscali do not seem to be affected.

We have raised a ticket with TeliaSonera to try and get them to put pressure on Tiscali to fix their problem.

We have a direct connection to Tiscali already signed up, however we are waiting for the fibre cable to be laid in Telehouse London, which I hope will be done next week, however its difficult to get an accurate time from them.

In the meantime on Monday evening we are going to try and move outbound Tiscali/Pipex traffic to another carrier to see if this fixes it.

Hope this may help you and your customers!

It's out of our hands at this point. I've done a lot of emailing to point out the trouble. At first they didn't seem to believe it was a network problem, but now they seem to be listening.

As i posted elsewhere, with Virginmedia on 10meg and like others have said sometimes pages will not load at random times and i either have to wait a while which can be a couple of minutes to ten or twenty or keep refreshing and hope for the best. It says page can not be displayed. It will often do this two or three times a day but sometimes it can be OK.

This never used to happen before the change and it occurs on different pc's and with different browsers. This does not occur with any other sites.
