help with non starting cossie
ive got a kit car running a cossie engine,
over xmas i changed engine spec and now it wont start
brief spec is
200 block
p+p head
bd 10 ex and bd14 in cams
piper pulleys
greens
3 bar
T38 on a .63 housing
im running a l8 green top ecu that has a chip for the engine.
ive got the engine timed up properly
the pulleys are set to 0
ive got a spark at the plugs
the injectors are working
fuel pressure is ok
engine is earthed ok
wiring is all there
crank sensor has been swapped for another 1 but it wasnt new. (but would the injectors/spark plugs work if this was faulty?)
now whats heppening is the engine cranks over as normal but a little slower,
it coughs and splutters but doesnt fire up
its as if theres too much fuel coming through.
i sent the ecu with the chip in to be tested and they are fine. it was fitted to another car and that started straight away.
any 1 got any ideas what it could be?
and what else can i check? how do i test it?
cheers

have you tried it with the ISCV and TPS disconnected, also is the dizzy the right way round so its firing in phase you can fit the out by 180 degrees I think so firing order is wrong, I take it plughs are on in right order

i havent tried with them disconected, how would this help?
dizzy is on and timed up fine, plugs are corect,
when the engine is timed to the notch for piston 1 tdc for doing the cam timing the rotor arm is pointing to the notch on the dizzy body, and firing 1342 sequence.
the engine has run in another car, all i have done is fit it into mine and now it doesnt work, which is shy i thought management but thats fine.

phase sensors new
tried 2 crank sensors, how do i test them to see if they are ok?
pump primes and runs
spark at all 4 plugs
all 4 plugs were wet but ive let them dry out over night out of the engine
going to test the loom next to make sure everythings connected properly and theres no hidden breaks.

man do i owe you a BIG drink
got it started today,
put it all back together and it would run again
so i disconected the TPS
and it started 1st time
strange this is i reconected the TPS and its working again
but thats saved me a lot of hassle
all i gotta do now is put some more bits back on and im ready to roll.

I've got the same problem with mine, gonna try that this afternoon! fingers crossed.....
When the engine is all timed up correctly for tdc, everything lines up as it should, but I've noticed that position of the phase sensor cam inside the dizzy is nowhere near the phase sensor???? (rotorarm lines up ok)
is that correct? What position should it be in at tdc?
cheers
