Whats the video about?
9k isnt very high for a RX7 engine really, most tuned n/a ones wont even be at peak power at 9k, in the old days they were tested at well over double that and carried on running, rotor seals fucked up so started to smoke after a bit, but engine kept running.

Rotorys sound mad, normal twin rotors sound like a REALLY noisy, really powerful, moped
I got vids of a n/a 20B triple rotor doing 200mph on a top speed oval, now THAT sounds awesome.
Or the 787B quad rotor Le-Mans car, that sounds fookin unbelivable

Like i said, i bet it was a fucked rotary if it only lasted a few mins at 9k, thats nothing for them, how long it last? I take it it was only in neutral FFS?
Most modern production engines are tested on a dyno at full load and full revs for days on end to make sure they dont blow up, never mind the few mins that vid prob lasts (at no load either i guess, jus bouncing off limiter)
At 25meg am i fuck bothering downloading it to watch a tired old rotory live its last few breaths

Ive seen a 135,000miles 1.6 205gti engine bounce off the rev limiter for just over 20mins and not blow up or even get close to it, we only stopped as we got bored and it was running out of petrol so we had to go get some.
Was some good flames from the exhaust tho as ever on 205s on the limiter

Looks like the only reason it died was because they left the filler cap off and the coolant pissed out everywhere making it over heat.

If you listen to the idiot filiming it, before he fires it up he says "were gonna kill this rotory, mates bet it will last 20 seconds i dont think it will last 10, its already got a blown rotor" so it was knackered before it started, then it lasted 4 mins before the coolant pissed out, then it lasted a further 3mins which i think overall is fookin mint considering. PMSL when he spotted it was on fire and couldnt find owt to put it out with
