Default FRST Idle problem

Right the fiesta turbo seems to have a bit of a dodgy idle, the throttle was jammed open when we got it and it was idling at 1500rpm, now removed the obstruction and its idling at about 500rpm and seems very spluttery, sometimes stalling

i thought maybe iacv? any other suggestions helpful, all vacuum hoses seem secure and no visible leaks

having enough of a nightmare trying to stop sump gasket leaking, just fitted a new one but its still bloody leaking

My old Escort GTi was reving up all the time, and bouncing up and down, sometimes stalling.
It was cured by cleaning the ISCV

There is one mm that can run a cos map sensor. But don't remember if its ofac or ofab.
But the idle problem should be the icv.

no obd lol and you can rarely communicate with them anyway! best use brake fluid to clean iscv as carb cleaner dries them out

shitty iscv for defenate..

oh and to stop your sump gasket leaking.... try NOT to do the bolts up really tight... and go for the rubber gasket with metal spacers either side of the bolt... much better than the cork efforts

the map sensor fits but am pretty sure they are diffrent "bar" rating sensors so when the ecu thinks its seeing a certain amount of pressure it actually isn't its being told one thing and getting another and not knowing it so hey prestos nice molten mess of an engine

Sounds like ISCV. its worth pulling all the other connectors off and cleaning them with some wd40.

I think you are meant to set the idle to ~600 IIRC with the ISCV unplugged. There is a little grub screw you set the idle speed with on the throttle somewhere.

The solution to the sump problem that we used (after 3 tries) was to rip the engine out

Good luck with it.

JAmes.

yep i have thats why i said it

Beefy your comment was neither helpful or relevant to the thread, if i wanted your opinion on my car, i would have asked for it, instead of getting some pathetic unwitty comment from you.

in the future i suggest you keep unwanted comments to yourself and i will do the same
