Default running in a cossie engine

hi folks

lokking for some advice for running in a stage 3 cossie


when to change oil/type at what miles

what revs for how many miles

when can i use the turbo

or anything else i have missed?

mineral oil for the first 500 miles with 6/8 psi wouldnt rev it no harder than 4k , then then change oil of choice )i use 20/50 valvoline vr ) then for another 500 miles giving it more revs but not abusing it to death lol then after the 1000 miles get it checked over and a setup sorted

or do what most people do and hammer it as soon as your out of site of the garage

just do what i done del



cheap shite oil for 100miles,change it and rack up another 1400 miles then put in decent stuff and my greys and get set up

but do use the revs slightly more as you go

dont be shy.........................i ran mine in on a t38 and 15psi.........cheap shite mineral oil....regular changes............even done another 1000 mile on mineral after it was mapped.....................now mobile 1 15/50.............

the running in thing is stupid,500 miles max needed on mineral oil,then thrash it after an oil change to a good spec oil.

Make sure you let the engine warm up properly before giving it beans...not by sitting idling on the drive though.

Don't labour the engine - i.e. too high a gear for the rev's etc. it wants to see load, and as Pete said, don't nanny it too much, as that ain't good either.
