Default anyone know about ford "blue" keys?

my transits got a "blue" key which has stopped working
now this wouldn't normally be a problem as you change the battery and job done, but apparently you can't change the battery as it's built into the microchip
and it's a bit hit and miss when the doos lock and open when you use the key in the only lock (drivers door)
ford have said that it needs a new key cut and chip programmed and they want to charge, but even though it's got 63,763 miles on it, it's still a 57 plate registered van so it should be covered under warranty right?

got it booked in this afternoon but don't want to kick off if they are going to take ages and then charge me for the privalege anyway so what's the score?

They charge from the ignition as the van drives.

Loads of the vans we run at work have had the central locking fail on them. Apparently very common. I assume your van is a 54 plate or newer?

We need to send them to ford and they get re-programmed. Not sure what the process is though but only takes a couple of hourse tops.

The van should still lock and unlock via the key and lock? To lock all doors put the key in, turn it to the left, and hold it there until you hear the bolts moving on the rear doors.

it's a 57 plate van mate

the problem seems to be that the key won't unlock all the doors all the time, nor will the dealocks engage all the time

hopefully the new key will resolve this problem but i'm off in a bit to get it done so i'll let you know

but if it's a fairly common fault then it should, by all rights, be done under warranty, especially on a 5 month old van

On a 57 plate it should definately be a warranty job. No doubt.

Id say we have had 10/15 vans that have had this problem. All fixed without question.

When locking/unlocking the van with the key in the lock, turn it to the left, then hold it to the left position and all the doors should similtaniously lock or unlock, depending what state they are in when you turn the key obviously.
