vectra 2.5 v6
my mate just got 1 on friday, and to say the least i aint that impressed with it, sure it has all the nice toys , leather seats, aircon traction control and so on, but i think performance of the engine is quite poor , no point even having a 1st gear as its literally crap, good on the motorways but i thought they would have been quicker than i expected it to be , anyone know what bhp they are standard?

Only 170bhp.
One of best sounding engines, for me anyway, I had a cavalier V6, loved the sound; just needed more power.
Not sure on Vectra, but Cavalier had a seriously heavy flywheel to allow it to idle at 400rpm for emissions.

vectra's also have heavy fly wheels. they weigh 15kg and it does hamper the performance. i have a 3.0 converted vectra and really needs a lightened flywheel. Is the car a pre facelift or facelift. if it's a pre facelift then it'll have a f25 gearbox which isn't the best geared box. the f23 found in facelift cars is a much better box though.

as for the performance if it's not a gsi then it'll have 167bhp in a car that weighs quite a bit. the gsi 2.5's are 192. the 167bhp model is as quick as the 2.5 mondeo which iirc is the performance model so that must say something about that!

i've got no doubt the vectra gsi will do a st24 all day long but the fact the std v6 vectra (which as people have already said has poor performance) is as quick as the mondeo st24 sort of show's the weakness's in the vectra is shit arguement
