Default another ebay question

i'm looking to bid on something but, having made sure i read teh words properly this time around, it states that vat will be added to the final price

i thoguht that was not allowed unless the goods were new and these are second hand bits

but shouldn't that be inclusive on the price you bid?

it's like saying "you'ev bought this for Ł10 but you have to pay me another Ł10 just because it's the way it is"?

i'll not bother bidding then

I agree that prices on Ebay should be VAT inclusive where applicable, but for a VAT registered trader to have to pay Ebay a final value fee on a tax he's obliged to collect on behalf of the Government is a bit much, so I understand why he's done it.

As the need to add VAT is shown in the listing, like his postage charges, you are able to make an informed choice about whether to buy or not.

i can't even find what i was going to bid on so i can't even show you

but yes, the wording was along the lines of "we will add vat on the final purchase price of 17.5%" which i though was a bit of a liberty

but if they are in business and peole are willing to pay then i can't see why they wouldn't continue with that practice, but i won't be paying for it, especially as i then found another one for les than a 3rd of the price
