Default what unforseen problems you've had building zetec turbos?

i thought it might be help full if people list problems/ hold ups whilst building thier zetec turbos that could prepare others better.

today i was fitting a few bits on my engine before i fit it 2moro and noticed:

the actuator rod of an rs turbo needs extending.

making oil return line up with custom manifolds.

gearbox cover plates are wrong.

dowles in a zetec block dont fit a cvh gearbox, so had to make new ones.

anyone had any others add on? maybe useless but thought it maybe of use to some people debating on a zt

pretty straightforward really as long as you think of it as a "conversion" meaning it's not meant to fit. ie. the water pipes need a bit of thinking about, the engine mount needs modifying. Not really a problem, just a step in the step by...

what was up with your actuator?

im not saying they're problems as such, but they are delays which add time etc to it. The actuator rod wasnt long enough for the t34 so it needed extending , this didnt take long but for someone without the facilities and on a tight schedule its an inconvenience lol.

I would say pick up for the TDC sensors. Depends on what management you want to run but very easy to overlook.

I did and it cost me a new flywheel and balance job.

thats what i meant, some poeple this sounds silly but just little things like using the wrong dipstic=wrong amount of oil=damaged engine, guides etc dont show you this.

wter pipes dont mate up etc. if some people are on a budget this can delay them
