Its been rebuilt more than once iirc
Constant hassle and as Rich said he is now back using a stock T5.
Bernie is rebuilding it again but that doesn't mean it will last any longer than it did last time.

Not sure if it was the power of Dingy's car that broke the box?
My mate has one in his Saph, Straight cut First gear and semi-straight cut 2nd & 3rd or something IIRC, works perfectly and has been a fit and forget item!
He isn't running 500+bhp though, more like 380ish

Tremec box seems a good choice tbh.
If its a big power engine then the Quaife isn't for you from what I've heard.
I don't think Marco has a properly sorted T5 just yet.

I'm sticking with a stock T5 and a 3.9:1 cwp, ideal setup for trackdays and a T5 will take 400hp all day long, using nitrous will be what will kill mine but hopefully as its simply for short amounts of time it will hold together
A mate of mine had to run one in a race car for a bit and he said it was fine until you really start revving the engine hard 8k etc..
The Quaife is only rated to about 420hp iirc although they obviously say that to cover there arse.
All the options are on that thread Dingy started a while back but tbh nothing was cheap and I couldn't justify spending 4k + on a box that IF it goes wrong is going to cost a fair anount to sort.

Bit of a price jump from a Quaife to a sequenital mullet
I bet you wont get any change out of 5k for one, I have no doubt it will be a superb bit of kit though
Sequential boxes are for track or race cars only, why on earth you would ever want one in a road car is beyond me

TKO isnt much hassle at all really, few custom bits but the cost isnt much more that a cut t5, and much much much better.
Custom Prop (Easy)
Custom Bellhousing (Think Reyland do these)
Custom Mount.
Cost all in i would guess to be 2.5k inlucinding the box, and as we know that will handle 1000bhp near enough.

yes dan, i even had a company lined up to do it
Didnt need a speedo drive as i was running a Stack Dash, but pretty sure they can come with speedo drives, just an optional extra that is blank off on the off the shelf TKO600's

I have the gearboxman T5 in my car. Didn't have any troubles with it with 400bhp.
My brother took it to the ring last year and he said that on the end of the lap, the 4 to 3 gear change didn't go so smooth anymore. But after a few minutes was fine again, so maybe it is caused by heat problems?
We'll see how well it goes with my new 550bhp (hopefully) new engine, which is almost ready

The other good thing with TKO is you are getting something with mass produced tolerances etc It should definately do as says on the box, not like a small production run aftermarket product that may do what it says on the box imo.

My bernie box has been plagued with issues from day one.
They have found a problem with it and its been fixed....
I had the uprated forks etc to...
re-fitting at the weekend with some different oil from millers - quaife recommended....so lets see....
Heat on mine made no difference to the problems....cold hot was exactly the same.
Martin - does the tko kit come with a new bell housing ?
