Default Pulley tightening question??

Hi all, i have read on another site tha when fitting a vernier pulley you only need to finger tighten the retaining bolt. Is this right, if i use a socket it will screw all the way in hence the pulley will jam on the head.

Let me know

cheers

The pulley will not jam on the head if youve put the cam locking plate back in unless the pulley is for the wrong car.Did you find the woodruff key and put it back in the cam??? and did you put the lockin plate back it and tighten the 8mm bolts up that hold it there???

Done, cam and pulley in place. anyone know the torque settings for the pulley???

On the diesel engines i changed the cam belt on there was a pre tensioner with a socket to get the tension with.

Whats the best way to pre tension the belt on my car??

Put a long screw driver down to the back of the tensioner and lever it so it puts tension on the belt, but dont over tension it,you need to be able to twist the belt in your fingers near half a turn.when you have done this keep it at that tension and tighten the two nuts up.

hopefully when i get back from work we will have life. When i have all the rocker arms and everything in place, i should be able to turn the engine by hand to make sure all is ok before i try and start it right??

It will miss coz the followers havnt filled with oil so valves aint oppening properly, take it out for a run and they should fill up quicker same as if you rev it you will get more oil pressure than at idle.
