LCDs... great TVs for kitchens or small Toilets mate!
Agreed, do a little research fella, you will find that Plasma is still the daddy if your heading over 37" Especially if you want decent contrast levels and fast moving pictures.

Viewing angle also tends to be better on Plasma "In my experience"

For the ultimate 'wow' factor, you've got to get one of these. Get that cinema feeling in your living room with the latest in viewing technology

LCD
Sexy and flat, these screens are the height of chic, and more affordable than ever before.

See for yourself!

So please have one of these...

and then stop spouting crap and go and watch your inferior budget TV and make sure you don't watch anything fast moving... like any sport etc and make sure you stand straight in front as Stu said

LOADS of LCDS in there apparently mate

A good LCD is a great TV to be fair, but they still can't get near the best Plasmas...

You think the Lcd's will catch up with plasma then in the next year or two as the big companys are spending big bucks on lcd technology. i have to agree with stu about plasma have better viewing angle's over lcd.

my pioneer 6 series (about 3yrs old now) still wipes the floor with pretty much every plasma and LCD up to like Ł2k.

Plasma are by far the best, the only benefit of a LCD over plasma is 1080P, but then again thats down to budget as now plasma's are 1080p but they come at a cost.

My Samsung 42 inch plasma did the same thing just before new years eve. It was three months old, took 3 weeks to get the parts and fix ti. It was the power supply n the back of the tv. they sent an engineer out to fix it and didnt replace it.

You all wrong, CRT's TV's piss all over both plasma and LCD!

And before you laugh it off, I am actually serious. Comparring a like for like source (would have to be SD not HD cos CRT can't do HD - and I ain't getting into the Samsung Slimfit HD-CRT's either ) at a similar size (say 36" CRT vs 37" plasma vs 37" LCD) the CRT will win every time, hands down. Refresh rates = CRT, black levels = CRT, vibrance/luminance = CRT, depth = CRT, etc, etc.....

Problem with CRT is a) size - in as far as they big chunky heavy TV's, and b) size - as in they only go upto 36" screen size, and c) they won't do above 576i in the UK, so no HD.....

But I love my 36" Tosh CRT to bits, and have no intention of changing it for a plasma or LCD, as I have no inclination to jump into HD source material just yet, so for my SD viewing (Freeview, DVD, stuff from PC etc) it's perfect

IN the plasma vs LCD battle, Porkie and Stu are right, plasma will win, as they tend to have better black levels, can often have better refresh rates, better motion, and are more vibrant with better contrasts to LCD's. Their downside is lack of small sizes (where LCD's shine through, as said 26" etc fot bedrooms, 19" for kitchens etc) and the possibility of retention and screen burn. Whilst the technology has come on leaps and bounds over the years, plasma's CAN still suffer from retention/burn in. Which is why LCD's typically make better TV's for those who use thier computer on them a lot. Not to say you can't on a plasma, of course you can, but if it's displaying the same static objects for hours and hours a day, LCD will be better for this app......

Basically, the smallest plasma you wanna consider is a 37", and the largest LCD you wanna consider is a 40". Friend of mine has just bought a 40" Sony LCD and I must admit it IS a nice TV..... But it'd probably have to be a 50" plasma for me to part with my CRT

I got an LCD as i only wanted a 32", got the philips 32PFL9632D.

If i would go big screen Pioneer Plasma all the way.

(but i live in a flat, and don't want to look like a monk with a 42" screen bigger then my lounge table)

We arent "ALL" Wrong as i happen to agree with you. At least i do when viewing domestic TV or SD satellite braodcasts.

Bring 1080 interlaced or Progressive into the equasion though and the plasma flies into another catagory completely.

Planet earth on Blue ray is just... "WOW!"
Im sure it will NOT be the same through a scart lead on my CRT in the back room, and teh Ps3 most certainly looks crap ON CRT compared to 1080P on the plasma.
