Prob more than likely the item that sends the signal to the rev counter - bit like the ign amps were doing on my escos.

Taken straight from the coil I believe?
Tried diffo coil aswell as a brand new amp.
Just wondering if a rev counter can cause a fault?

sounds like its shorting out somewhere if the rev counter is playing up when it missfires, check all plug leads arent shorting out onto head

pre 80's escorts eg rs2000 mk1/2 used an induction loop for the revcounter & this was prone to causing problems

Disconnect the feed to it and see if it still misfires, this is a common problem with stuff that uses an ignition amp, the rev counter usually isnt the problem, but lets you know the fault is eletrical rather than fuelling. probably..

What car is it?
