we use these in work, the battery life is very good, i'd say Dewalt is on par.

http://search.ebay.co.uk/drill-milwaukee

bit more than you want to spend but as with everything they are quality.

I have the Bosch 24v, which has been with me for 5 years now and taken abuse through the renovation of my Bungalow.

I think it's about £20 more than the 18v version.

RYOBI...very very good and a reasonable price.
Screwfix, Machine Mart or B+Q.

I buy all the drills for our company & we won't buy anything but Hilti. They are expensive but the are top of the range and their customer service is second to none.

the chuck on my 18v ryobi one is crap - they dont hold the bit tightly - should have a chuck key

Bosch 24v for me too...had my first one nicked and bought another. The later one came with a single handed chuck lock and had gone up from 10mm to 13mm chuck

Argos were the best price back then

36v Hilti's (With interchangable SDS chuck) are the daddies

Tis a bit much to have hanging round the house just for hanging a picture once in a while

i would get a Bosch one or Dewalt, I've used others but those two seemed to work the best and last the longest.

Bosch 24v here, only use Bosch.
More than enough for diy, and no need to go mad.

As for the volts, these cheap high volt ones aren't always more powerful, the amps count too.
Bosch have decent amps, cheapies often don't.
Volts x Amps = Watts.

I have an 18v AEG at work. Seems a good drill. But i don't use drills as much nowadays, but when i did,18v dewalt was spot on,just didn't realise i could get it serviced for free,so it went fucked! 24v bosch sds was always spot on as well, drilled some pretty big core holes with it,no problem.

panasonic are very very good drills they make the batterys for alot of the other big names like dewalt bosch makita. I would never buy another cordless with a hammer drill on it as it just kill the drill much quicker, so all you need is a 14v or 16v cordless plus the small cordlees weighs alot less whats good if you use it all day hope that helps

Hire companies favour Makita so that says something
I have a DeWalt 36v but it was a freebie from a rep
The new Bosch ones with the light built in are cool as well.
