Not that long to be honest mate, is it flat or up/down hill much? Tho to be honest when walking or driving you dont notice as much as on a bike.

A while ago when all my cars were fucked I used to ride my bike to my Mrs's house 10miles a day every night (5miles each way), was up and down hills the whole way, nothing killer on foot, but riding a bike fast as fuck you sure noticed it.

used to take i dunno, half hour i think but riding fast (if its relativley flat you will be able to ride fast as fuck and no effort, but gradiants you feel much more than youd think and you will end up going slower for a bit), was fooked for 10mins once got there just because of the hills, but keeps you well fit, and like you said, costs fuck all.

hope that helps but as said above you wouldn't think stuff was as steep as it is once your on the bike

I average about 27ish km /h on the commute into work chap - 21k ride (each way)- thats on a mountain bike (normal gearing) with slicks:

8 Miles shouldn't take you any mroe than half hour at most mate, but it depends on how often you ride etc.... - you could be mega fit, but being bike fit is something completely different!

So long as it saves me Ł180 on train fair and gets me there in less than an hour and a half door to door I'm happy

Its a bit of a mixed ride, but not to many hills, one steep one and a couple of light ones.

Im gonna die the first week or so I think, but then... hopefully Ill get my fitness back up

Remember to take a couple of spare tubes, pump, and tyre leavers in your back mate - just in case!

When I bought a bike last summer my arse was in agony, I had to move from one cheek to the other every other minute. And I was getting nowhere. But, come the end of the summer and I could ride to my friends house along the prom at full speed and I wasn't even out of breath when I arrived!

It's hard at first, but does get easier, Benni.

Off topic, but what slicks are you using there (make/width) as I'm on the hunt for a narrower set than the Conti 1.6's I'm using at the moment.

Nice bike, I will stick with the normal tyres to start with then when the summer comes along get the slicks. Nice bike that.

Mine arrives at halford on monday, its one of the first 20 in the country, a full carbon hard tail Carrera Titan 20" bike, costing me Ł550 though the company scheme, normally its Ł1,000!!!!

I cycle just over 20 miles one way. It takes under an hour if I push, and just over if I keep a moderate pace. That is on a really nice Colnago racing bike though.

When you change from off road tyres to slicks it's like riding another bike....
