Autoglym Life Shine
Hi all
Having recently being offered the Autoglym lifeshine for my new car for a bargain £400, I decided (after telling them to go fuck themselves) to do a little research.
I have consequently purchased some of what purports to be the same product from the good old ebay. This was more for curiousity's sake rather than to save money. And it will certainly not be used on the porker till I know it works. I have a perfectly useful Rover to use as guinea pig!
But has anyone any experience of these? Also, does anyone know if what is in these tubs is likely to be the same product? I am reasonably reliably informed that the product is not as dear as the pro valeters would have you believe, and obviously the bit I have purchased doesnt come with the after care kit which is just a kit full of Autoglym stuff.
So thoughts people.
1. Anyone used it?
2. How good was it?
Cheers
JJ

The autoglym lifestyle kits come in a red carry all (same as the green ones the normal kits come in). I got 1 from a mate for £45 for the full kit which comes with a sticker and authenticity sheet. I also got a cardboard box with it with a few more bottles and polishing cloth's
Is yours the same?

Mine hasnt arrived yet. I am not expecting any more than the basic Life Shine application pack, and not the after care package.
C4llyT - I belive that the Autoglym system is pretty widely used by a number of main dealers. The Zymol is another level of spending when compared IIRC

Used by main dealers - what does that mean?
Seen the state of a new cars paint by the time they've finished with it?
If Zymol etc is another level, how does that work, as it's cheaper and better?
Similar to Supaguard, waste of money.

The cleaner wax you buy from Halfrauds is NOT the full range of Zymol products.
They do some serious products.
However, back on topic. I would be interested to hear from any pro valeters that have used these kits, as i have seen them fleabay and wondered about them as well...

Autoglym is not a proper detailers product in any way shape or form, it's a mainstream wax and even then Turtlewax comes higher in almost every test done.

Have a check of the work and products you'd get for that £400 from someone like Polished Bliss.
Hours of correction then a proper LSP.

Dunno if you have to sign up to view..
E46 M3, paint in a shit state.
For £460 it looks better than new with paint defects sorted.
Zymol vintage applied for £100.
Or Autoglym for £400, hmm.....
Not forgetting you need a decently prepared surface to get the most from the LSP, and from the finish.
I know where my money would go:

i can get the lifeshine kits for about £100 from my autoglym dealer and personally i dont use any other products.I know they are expensive but you pay for what you get. The reason main dealers dont use auto glym as they are expensive i have worked for a few dealerships for a couple of days to help out and to be honest they dont give a shit whats used as long as its cheap and the car looks good as the customer is happy.
I do like the life shine system as it does protect the paintwork to a certain degree but its only any good if you maintain the car by polishing it regularly. The dealers make an absolute fortune on these kits as you are paying for the reputation of autoglym. Ideal if the car is brand new as the bodywork has to be absolutely spotless to get the best results as the polish can apparently lock in the dirt
hope this helps i cant see why someone who is quite thorough with cleaning their car couldnt use the kit properly with the right effects
