Dabbled a bit in Kickboxing for a few months towards the end of the year but stopped going as no one was willing to take a punch or a kick or any sort of contact. It was only a college thing anyway nothing major,

I am planning on taking up Ju Jitsu very soon though.

Well you will be disapointed as there is not much punching or kicking in Jujutsu as its mainly about grappling technique and submission holds. I dont know what sort of place you expect to go to where you can punch or kick somebody, the idea is to learn and then when you are ready you enter sparring or full contact tournaments.

I can assure you there is boys of 14 and 15yrs old that would give you a very bad beating in the ring if you are unprepared.

your not wrong mate, ive seen 13yr olds when i was boxing who you could put in the ring with an 18yr old and they'd out box them, only thing letting them down would be strength

i agree, the actual stamina training and "warm up" fucking kills me, then its learning blocks/kicks/punches at 1 min sets,,,,,, at 30 seconds of punching the same 2 shots your shoulders just fucking hurt,,, the next 30 seconds are a bastard and feel like a life time

sparing is ment to show contact but not so much force but where to place a shot and discover open areas ect

ju jitsu is also fun, though its wierd having a sweaty bloke lying on top of me pinning me down and pulling my legs apart wuth hes legs till i double tap the floor

pmsl at having a sweaty bloke on top of ya.
dont try saying thats the first times thats happened now ginge.

what u said is exactually what i found.
warm up and training really tough.
and sparking with pads etc supprisingly painfull.

u watch people doing it and think nothing of it.
but when u stand there and have someone hit ya through a huge thick pad its amazing how much u have to lean into to so that it dont knock u right back.
was even worse when i done it as it was kicks as well.

i rekon if i'd stuck with it after a few months it would of really of fittened and toughened me up.

mate blocks hurt just as much as the kicks,,,,,,, we have made the bloke use a body pad for the kick practise as when he wanted the next guy to start he would hold hes leg or arm up and block,,,, the pain in my fucking shins from it

aint about toughening up though, just about male bonding more than anything as you need ALOT of trust to spare against people bigger and alot stronger than you and know they aint gonna get the humo nad play REAL rough

i was the opposite, i use to find the training a doddle, i was so fit from swimming and boxing that the change of pace etc i.e fast skipping/ slow skipping made me build up a sweat def but i was use to it
