haha its like anything i get into i go a bit mad lol, i used it more when it was standerd tbh ahah

i fitted a new engine and cos it was so big the compression snapped the pull cord first go lol

tbh no matter what you buy they will break parts, but if you keep it standed youll be able to find standed parts at your local hobby store or on ebay.

id go for a savage personaly there about £300 new if i remember correctly so look on ebay and youll be able to get one of the first ones for around £150 or less.

they run of nitro fuel too not petrol just to clear the air

your best of going to your local hobby shop and talking to them, there all geeks in hobby shops so there helpful and can point you in the right direction. ive not had one for 2 years or so but i am looking to get back into it when i have spare cash

ive had loads of these things and to be honest if you dont have some where very flat then you will be better off with a stadium truck or monster truck. ive ruined so many on road cars in car parks where they have hit a bump and gone airbourne. what area are you in? if your in london i can recommend a couple of model shops. let me know

ive got the hpi rs4 road car and like i say they are useless without a flat surface. the savage is a great truck but dont go for the twin engine version as keeping nitro engines running properly is difficult enough without having to worry about getting both running especialy if its your first nitro truck. there are so many different engine options with the savage. you cant go wrong. massive ground clearence equals great jumps. once you have run it in and leaned it out these things are rapid but do follow the running in instructions as it makes it so much more reliable. the engines are very stiff when you buy them and need loosening off. hope this is of some help!

if you go for a deal it will come with the fuel and glow starter. if you can buy a spare glow plug as they dont last long. if you do flood the engine which is easy if it doesnt start straight away it can ruin the glowplug so get a spare. also once its run in you can get a fuel with a higher percentage nitro. say 25% wich will make i loads faster but if you do change the fuel you will need to set the carb needle back to the base settings and lean it out again. sounds complicated but once you have watched the dvd that comes with hpi models it will be easy

sorry to bable on but one thing worth mentioning is you should buy a fail safe switch as if the batteries go flat in the reciever or handset you will have no way off stopping the thing. its happened to me. a failsafe will cost £10 , if there is interferance from other electrical stuff nearby or the batteries go flat it will apply the brakes and bring it to a stop. these things are exspensive to buy and just as bad to repair should you stuff it

it comes with a roto start which is ok but it just means you have to carry the roto start with you, it uses a 7.2v battery to work it which is a pain if you forget to charge. i converted mine to pull start just so i didnt have so much stuff to carry. the one in the link has a powerfull engine. you can tune the 2sped box. it has a grub screw in it so you can adjust when it changes to 2nd. not sure if it comes with fuel when i got mine i got fuel with the deal

The carb setting is done by putting spit on your finger and wetting the top of the head of the engine, should take 3-5 seconds to evaporate.
Higher Nitro fuels are good but can be tempremental and go off quicker, I always used TAYLOR plugs and found these good.

I got a savage in the shed, its an X model so its a good one. Strong as fuck, I abuse mine proper too, quite fast too for what it is, ive uprated the Spur Gear too a Steal one (47 Tooth) tho as they come with shitty plastic ones as standard & dont last 5 mins, i got a Racing Clutch Bell too (19T, did have a 15 before tho). I have tested it with the new Clutch bell yet tho, as i cant be assed lol

there great fun Savage's, just a shame i dont use mine much, its been sitting doing nothing for ages.

tabetha wot do you mean the carb setting is done by spit on your fingers. ive never heard of that one please exsplain. there are 2 screws on the side of the carb. one does the idle and one adjusts the mixture. infact on the savage im sure there is 2 screws for the mixtur one does the low speed and the second for high spped and a third for the idle, and sideways your quite right the plasitic gears and clutch that are supplied are shit, you can buy carbon fibre clutch's which last for ever. i lost count of the clutchs i fucked by crashing, they can also melt and stick to the inside of the bell.

savages are smart but you know what i grew bored very quickly, last year i went mad on them buying and selling loads on ebay and playing inbetween, i found stadium truck so much more fun for a all rounder, believe it or not the shumacher menace 21 was my favourite. i had the truckzilla savage, also many tarmac racers even a hyper 7 which was good but not as good as the manace, if i ever buy another it will be another menace or similar
