thought sennheiser are the best of the best, used by audio engineers and broadcasters alike. On tv when showed using headphones they are sennheiser

as a professional audio engineer I use sennheiser... BUT as with all audio, everyones ears are different, so whats good for me may be shit for you. i would suggest doing to a decent hi-fi shop and taking a trusy cd with you and trying some out..
top of the leader board for me is sennheiser then beyer dynamics... beyer make very very good headphones but just a tad on the 6K3 side for me... i also have a set of AKG that are very impressive bass response is awsome but lacks a bit of detail in the hf around 11k ish.. but still very good...
good luck with your search.. but if you do want sennheisers then let me kno becuse i have an indorsment with them for microphones.. i get appx 45% off of retail price

as said, senns are up there with the best, like lee said though it depends what presentation you like, theres the well known issuse called the sennheiser veil which people think makes them sound slightly less detailed than other brands.
I've just sold a pair of Ł325 Grados which were awesome, not the most comfortable though, I've also got a pair of sennheiser radio controlled phones for wandering around the house with, they arent bad for Ł60.
Looking for a pair of Beyers next, similar to the Grado presentation but much much more comfortable, just need to sell a few bits first so I can afford them
