Default FAO: Anyone with a PSP.....headphone noise levels!!!!

...i know they don't go up very loud at all (sony's fault ) but i have seen a number of links on how to make them louder...

by re-soldering one wire in the ear piece from point A to point B and removing the resistor basically.........BUT........i don't want to do this and possibly ruin some good headphones......

can i just buy some new headphones that will go up louder???? instead of a DIY fix?????

anyone bought new headphones for theirs???? will this solve the problem?

no....apparently sony headphones on the PSP are renowned for being quiet as they are sony 'soft noise' headphones, so they don't get sued for peoples ears going funny!!

do a search for MAKING PSP HEADPHONES LOUDER on google and there are shed loads of links for this problem!!!

they are ok when you are in a room on your own, etc but not good for on a train or in noisey place!!!

you sure YOU havn't got a duff set??

I have a set of PSP headphones and a set of regular headphones. Both operate at the same levels.

Also have a set of Philips that are exactly the same.

Sounds like yours are buggered, a batch of PSP headphones were buggered or you havent turned the volume up on the PSP.

Try it without the remote thingy on the PSP. I dont use that and get very good volume. Enough to block the missus out when she is whining

tried it with and without!!! makes no difference!!

here is an extract on the problem from a PSP forum....

Right, as soon as i got my psp i put a few mp3's on it and after they were done i plugged in the sexy white headphones and to my suprise *drum roll* ...the headphones were a bit s**t. Heres a tutorial on how to make them un-s**t, get a pair of plyers or something to hold the grey bit of the head phone steady, then turn it untill it pops off, the inside should look like this ... http://www.imagesharing.com/files/ps...dphonetoum.JPG
De-solder the copper wire (Point A)and resolder it to point B, then jsut to make sure pop the resistor with a pair of plyers or something (the first time i tried it on the left headphone it didnt make any difference untill i popped the resistor) and put them back together agian to have about twice as much sound output (if not more)

this post went onto 3 pages!!!

I bought a set of Philips headphones from currys (some patented surround sound jobs) and they have a volume control on them etc when playing ridgeracer they sound the tits very loud and the bass for such a poxy little headphone rocks!!!

Easily go 3-4 times louder than the standard Sony wankers

the european psp's were shipped with headphones that were quiter than the rest of the world headphones.

You can do a simple soldering job to bypass the filter. I just plugged my ipod headphones in and they are noticeably louder !
