Default issue fitting oil cooler sandwich plate

i've never fitted one of these so i assumed i removed the OE water/oil cooler (like on cossie's) and put new thermostat controlled sandwich plate and job done??

but i cant, if you look at the pic below

one is the OE bolt that holds the old cooler on, which has male fittings each end

yet the new one has male one end female the other,

it's as if i just attach the new sandwich plate to te OE one and just not use the water pipes

or do i have the wrong fitting???? or just being stupid

Is it 4x4? If so bolt it back together and put the sandwich plate in between
the filter and housing.

yeah, sorry it's my pug in the sig, with a 306 gti-6 engine

i cant use the OR bolt as the non threaded part is to long, and would not seal the sandwich plate

now techically that would work, but surely i should just have the correct bolt in the first place? as it seems a bit stupid to leave the OE on inplace

the OE one will help warm the oil from cold, as the coolant heats up first it will then transfer heat to the colder oil.

but then on track the water will be heating the oil

and the oil cooler will be trying to cool it

though i can leave the OE in place and not plumb it in

i was talking about the oil

but surely having 110degrees constanly heating water, is non effiecent??

surely it would be better to not HEAT the water with the oil

rememeber this is a TRACK car not a road car

Sorry it looked like a 4x4 cosworth set up!! You need to fit a threaded insert into the block(I can supply if needed), ditch the old oil cooler and fit the sandwich plate between the block and filter. The cooling pipes on the old oil cooler just need joining together.

found the answer, you correct martin too, (not that i ever doubt'd you )

as i ask'd the same question on the 205 forum

Easy, As all the Iron blocks with the heat exchanger fitted use the fitting as in your picture and is one complete item, On the alloy blocks they still had the thread insert in the block, You can buy these from Pug for a couple of quid, If you need the part number drop me a PM (which i've asked )
