My mates westfield - coming along nicely
Blatant cut and paste from another forum:
What he is going to do, on my advice, is to run it on a set of independant throttle bodies, and very high CR (for a turbo) of 10.5:1, with a largeish turbo (A UT/Garret T38) on a very well flowing exhaust manifold.
Basic concept is to use very little boost in the midrange, and then just feed a bit more boost in on the apexi as the rev's increase, so that it can have a steady 200-225lbft of torque for a very large portion of the rev range (3500-7500 roughly) which will see about 275bhp hopefully.
That should be a really nice driveable spec for him to get used to the car with, then he can remove the engine and replace it (still using the T38 and TB's etc) with his low comp bottom end that will allow him to scream the T38 properly and see 420-440bhp or so hopefully.
Certainly different, and IMHO (alright im baised, lol) is sexy as hell

Throttle Bodies and Linkage - just awaiting the plenum to be modified. I'm having a spacer and backplate made up to mount-up to a Nissan Pulsar GTI-R plenum. Please excuse the nasty blue hose and shoddy alternator - it IS being changed!
Some shots of the new exhaust manifold on the car.
Trial fitting the new turbo - some slight messing about is needed but it fits so it's going on.
Thanks again to Chip and Tefal for coming down with a boot full of goodies for me.

so basically the engine is similar in principle to rallycross engines then? using the turbo to fill the cylinders at high rpm when normally it would be running out of puff?

He still wants to go low comp, but is going to trial it first and see how he likes it, as he has one engine hi comp and one low comp, and if nothing else the low torque high rpm high comp motor should be safer to learn to drive the car properly with!

Thanks for all the kind comments (Tis my Westy) - just goes to prove that real petrolheads appreciate pretty engines whether they're Ford, Vauxhall, or whatever.
