Default Why do ebay sellers do it?

I have ordered a replacement air filter for my car and gone for the K&N panel jobby.

£55 inc delivery - good price.

The seller says it was shipped on the 7th, nothing has turned up, and the reply from the seller when asked for a tracking number was "sorry, posted first class so no tracking number"

WHY the fuck not recorded for the sake of £1 extra?

And while I am on a rant, why the cunt do people not reply when you ask them for an expected shipping date aswell for a large item that needs to be sent by courier - its nice to know when its arriving so I can be home, but no, no fucking reply

CCUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNTTTTTSSSSSS

And breathe.....

Rant over

It seems ebay is an easy market to con people.
Hope you get it.

I know how you feel mate.

Nearly 3 weeks ago i bought a header tank cap for my FRST from the cosworth shop and i'm still waiting for it.

Paid £9.99 for it so i'm happy with the price but not the wasiting game.

I insist on sending all goods out with a MINIMUM of recorded delivery, so if you dont want it tracked, buy elsewhere.

I am the same if selling anything on ebay. A tracking number and a signature at the bare minimum at the other end is a MUST

If it didn't state recorded delivery, and you didn't pay for it, you can't really complain that it wasn't posted recorded

If you did pay for it though, when it does get delivered the seller wouldn't have any proof that you've recieved it, so there would be no problems in getting your money back through paypal

even if its been posted first class he shouldhave been given a receipt which is proof of postage, if he has this then he can claim from the post office for the goods, and refund you when they refund him

He would of needed to pay insurance on that as i think 1st class only covers up to a certain about.
Also the seller should issue the refund, and then claim the money back from the post office. The buyer should not have to wait for their money back.

true it only covers a certain amount, but as long as he has the receipt to prove he posted it, he can claim

Whats the point in paying extra for recorded? It won't give you any more insurance...

Its the fact that a signature is required at the point of delivery, and therefore it is a trackable item - comes in handy should the buyer dispute delivery IE:

Buyer: I havn't received my shit blah blah blah

Seller: Whats the tracking number I gave you

Buyer: JJ201005584x is what you emailed me

Seller: According to to that number you signed for it and here is your signature on the royal mail website.

Buyer: Oh cock, I did not try to rip you off at all and claim money back fraudulently

Or something along those lines anyway

the insurance on standard posatge is only the value of the stamp is it not?

you only get insurance if you pay for it

and recorded delivery insures about £30 as standard i do believe

Seems mad to me that people are willing to put up with the hastle of having no tracing and customers being able to insist they didnt recieve things when they damn well did. Madness.

As someone who posted a parcel on the 7th, using Standard Parcels which both ebay and the Royal Mail clearly state takes 3-5 WORKING days to arrive, how pissed off am I that I've already been phoned twice about the whereabouts of the parcel. The first call was on Tuesday after which I scanned and emailed her the Proof of Posting receipt, only for her to phone again tonight. What exactly am I expected to do? Nip down to her local sorting office and see if I can find it in the mail system?

She won the thing for a £1 and the postage was a tenner. Royal Mail took almost £9 of that, and by the time I've paid for the tape and bubble wrap as well as the ebay and PayPal fees, never mind the fuel to take the damned thing to the post office, I'm out of pocket at this point.

But what I'm really fucked off with is this "HAS EVERYONE FORGOTTEN THAT CHRISTMAS IS JUST ROUND THE CORNER AND THE POSTIES ARE LADEN WITH CARDS AND GIFTS!!!???

See my other thread Ian, but the point I was making on this one is why wasn't my item sent with at least a recorded delivery, that would of cost 70p or so extra and with the price of the postage on the item I paid for it would of still been cheep. That brings me onto people making money off postage, really annoying, but thats another story

This is one of my pet hates The thing is with Ebay you are buying the item and you chose how you want it to be deliverd.

Now say you the post on your K+N was £10.50 and this was fully insured and tracked would you still have brought it ? no as it would have made to to dear.

I give my customers a choice and it is up to them how they want there item sent

Shipping And Handling (UK Mainland Only)

You have 3 choices on how we ship your item. guess which one they alwways chose

1 Royal Mail 1st Class post

Please note if you choose the delivery as 1st class your item will leave us either the day you paid or the following day if ordered after 3.00pm.

With 1st class It has no tracking number so we cannot track at any point, if doesn’t arrive royal mail says it is not deemed lost until after 28 days after posting it. Please Note item only insured up to the value of £28.00 ,We are not responsible for none or late delivery.

We will obtain a proof of posting only for our records and in the event of us having to make a claim. I must stress there is no use asking us “where your parcel is” as once we have sent it i have no control over postman pat and his chums!

Please only choose the 1st class option if you accept the above conditions of purchase.

2 Royal Mail Special Delivery

Fully insured up to the value of £250.00, tracked, usually next working day delivery by 1pm to most parts of the UK main land. Delivered by your postman

3 City Link Parcel courier

Fully insured, tracked, usually next working day delivery to most parts of the UK main land.

Note there must be someone in at the delivery address to sign for the parcel. Please Note Delivery can be anytime between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm we cannot tell you what time the parcel will arrive.

city link will attempt delivery twice only if no one is on two seperate occasions the goods will be returned to us and we will charge for redelivery.

Once the goods have been despatched from us we cannot change the delivery address.

If given the option of paying the little bit extra for a signed for/special delivery, I ALWAYS go for this - it saves a fuckload of bullshit and bollocks IF the item does not turn up etc etc.

Also if the advert says "shipping - sellers standard rate" then what the fuck is that meant to mean? it tells you fuckall
