Default Insurance for 3 door for 24 year old driver. PLEASE!!

Feeling much better this afternoon and ringing round for quotes on forthcoming car purchase.

I will be buying a 3 door cos, stg 3 - 320 BHP, 18"s, AP 4 pots and Koni suspension. Have a spare year to go on from S2 I sold at the wknd, and 2 years on daily driver.

Had SO many companies refuse as under 25.

I'm waiting on Greenlight to email me back and just have HIC to phone - best price so far has been Brentacre from back of Fast Ford at £1594.70!!!

I've tried - Adrian Flux, Boncaster, Performance Direct, A Plan, Sky, Chris Knott, AON, Peter Best, Michael Ward, Endsleigh (!), Cover Sure/Term and 1 more I can't remember!

Anyone recommend anyone else?

HIC always sorted me out. Try and get it on classic insurance as that will be cheaper and limit your mileage.

I bought mine when I was 26 and paid adrian flux £210 0 for a fully comp policy (not classic). Then the following year went to HIC and it was £1500 and year after that 1000, then 850 and finally waqs quoted 650 this year.

All mods delcared to 400bhp too.

Just off the phone to Neil at HIC - very helpful and down to £1508.

Greenlight are gonna have to go some to beat that!

Its a policy with equity red star. I can't get the classic at the min as they won't cover my age (24) for 300+ brake. My S2 was on the classic which was pretty cheap!

XS is £450 for HIC compared to £750 for Brentacre - TBH I'm prefering slightly less XS incase the worst happens! I'm gonna call Greenlight in a min cos I hate waiting for emails!!

Hi Chez,

Just to clarify, the policy is not a classic car contract, it's based upon our one of our modified car schemes which unlike classic policies actually accrues NCB.

Classic car policies do not require NCB and although they can be quite competitive your NCB is not in use and will expire after 2 years.

With regard to your cover under the modified contract - in addition to the traditional cover you expect from comprehensive cover polcies this also includes like-for-like replacement of individually damaged/stolen modified parts, agreed value is available and track cover is available on a per-event basis from the Underwriter concerned.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Tony

Vroom,

You can still use hotmail, but you will need to add greenlight to your safelist before you apply.

Due to our sending a quote guarantee and details via e-mail for our potential customer to retain for each application made, we do send an awful lot of e-mails each day.

Whilst these are genuine (ie not spam) the enhancements to Hotmail accounts in terms of their spam/junk filter often mean that our e-mails unfortunately end up there.

We have contacted Microsoft three times in an attempt to resolve, but they are such a goliath of a company and the best they could offer for a sizeable fee would be around a 25% improvement in receipt of mail.

With this in mind we backed off and continued our development of an automated process, which will be available next year.

In the meantime, if you have a hotmail address you can still apply online with that address - but in the event that you do not receive a reply simply call our office and we will be able to trace your online application.

Alternatively, you could set yourself up with another free address that has greater flexibility (such as gmail - google mail or similar).

Kind regards

Tony

Cant wait to see what they come up with

Hi Mike,

We can certainly cover the vehicle and your record does sound good, but I think our comprehensive cover minimum premium for a 24 year old is above £350.

So although we can offer the cover you need (like for like mods replacement, Protected NCB, track cover option etc), until you turned 25 we'd be more than the quote you've already had.

If you have 5 mins spare and still wish to see what we can do, simply log onto www.greenlightinsurance.com we'd be happy to do our best for you.

Im just mindful that due to the type of cars we Insure our minimum premiums will impact upon what we can offer.

Kind regards

Tony

Does anyone know whether Greenlight Full comp insurance covers you to drive any other car (with the owners permission)?

Cheers

I do..

As a rule of thumb, if you are aged 25 or over (doesnt have to be comprehensive cover) are not involved in the motor trade, self-drive hire, or taxi/courier driving then it is likely that you will be able to drive other cars that are not owned/registered/belonging to you on a Third Party cover basis.

All main scheme underwriters include this extension as above, but our older limited mileage policies (arranged pre July 2007) may also have this extension excluded.

It takes 2 seconds to check on our system, all you need do is contact us on 01277 263030 so we can confirm.

A more immediate way to check (for all Insurance providers - not just Greenlight) is to take a look at your certificate of motor insurance, as if the extension is included it will usually be listed next to the classes/permissions/people allowed to drive.

Kind regards

Tony
