Default building advice....

Cant find a building section on here but no doubt it will get moved somewhere, worth a shot though.
Ive got an outbuilding which consist of two little rooms (one was obviously the coal shed and the other storage). I want to knock through to make it one big area that I can store a quad in.
Pics are :-

outside

inside the left hand area.

As there is nothing above the doors support wise im reckoning the middle wall is taking the weight of the roof. What I thought was to put a lintel across the front top (making the doors shorter in height) to take the load and then just knock the middle wall down leaving a bit protruding at the rear so as not to upset the rear wall. Then want to put a roller shutter door on front so as to give good access. The outside pic above doesnt show the edges but they are just the same as the birck middle.
Does this seem a reaonable way of doing it? Would the lintel just be cemented in to the existing brickwork and above it to the roof?
Any help appreicated.

Is that grey bit above the doors a concrete lintel or just the edge of the roofing felt? And what is the roof made of?

Don't know I'd attract attention with a roller door, I think I'd keep two side-hinged doors that are just a wee bit wider to fill the bigger gap when the middle wall is removed.

I think the roof is concrete, theres nothing above the doors other than the door frame. fair point with the doors

The roof is concrete and will be reinforced so wont require a lintel. It acts as its own lintel..

Just be steady though mate, you still need to do a visual check on the state of the concrete etc. If it looks in bad condition dont trust it and bang a lintel in for safe measure but it should be fine

im not going to knock the full middle wall down anyway, prob 3/4 of it so as to open the space up but still provide a bit of support. Thanks for the help lee
