Default Doh, bit of an issue with my nova

Well, was testing out the new launch control / limter that I installed on it and managed to blow the exhaust to pieces, literally, opened it up like a sardine tin!

Relatively minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but also during testing the head gasket has let go, and thats not something that can be easily changed in situ on my car really, due to lack of access, plus I always had suspicions on the block flatness anyway so not really sure what to do now, might see if it is possible to get the head off in the car, I reckon it could be, and possibly if I run a normal gasket instead of a metal one I might see a bit more life out of it even if the block isnt quite flat, Im due out on a trackday on 2nd of feb, so I really need it well and truely up and running properly by then one way or another and still have LOTS of work to do on the suspension etc so really going to struggle for time to do much with the engine so im not really ready to put my other engine in yet as havent got all the bits I need and its just not going to happen in the timescales I have, given that I work away all week so only get a couple of afternoons a week to work on it.

Was always on the cards it was going to go, so not too gutted, but just a shame it went tonight when I was meant to be drag racing it tomorrow at our local 1/8th mile strip!

I think if I do the head, I will whip the pistons and rods out at the same time and get some steel ones into it so at least then I have one less worry, but if the block isnt quite flat its all acedemic as will just keep popping gaskets long before the rods are a risk.

Im kind of thinking I need to just crack on and get the whole engine and box out, so I can get the engine right apart and decked and then put it back together, bores will be fine as its only done around 4K miles since a total rebuild with oversize pistons, so should be relatively simple, just an arse pulling it apart now ive lost my workshop as cant do it in the garage,so at the mercy of the weather working outside to pull it apart.

BUGGER sums it up quite well I reckon!

Anyone fancy a xmas holiday working in somerset?

If I go to the hassle of removing the rear subframe/engine/box etc then its pretty easy to fix the LET at that stage, so no point going and buying an XE really.
