Default m3 e46 question

For anyone that knows about car depreciation really. When do you think would be a good time to buy one?
I was thinking maybe another few months yet.
Basically my mate is looking into buying one in a few weeks for around £20k

Thanks

They're going to depreciate pretty rapidly with the E92 coming onto the second hand market.

A mate of mine just got a 53 plate M3 with 50k on the clock from BMW for 23k about a month ago.

Personally as mentioned the wrong time to be buying one

However it is a superb car

but yes 20k will get you a very good one at the moment as there is loads on the market, but be aware in 6-8 months he will lose a chunk of money on it.

I'd wait to see what happens to the prices in the new year, give the new M3 time to get out there.

When he has enough money to afford the one he wants? Is he more concerned about buying a car or selling it in a year/2 years time?

If he's concerned about depreciation in my opinion he should be more concerned for the person that paid the £40 odd grand for it new

Seriously though, the balls have fallen out of the used car market ESPECIALLY around that price range at the moment. Give it until the new year and he'll be spoilt for choice

You can get them for that money anywhere mate. Maybe a grand or so more but you can get them for 15k no problem.

EDIT: just had a look and you can EASILY get a good one for £15k. Plenty up at £15k so £14k is possible. A couple on there at around £13k-£14k.

Theres actually a silver cab on there now for £15k. High miles at 120k, but looks nice with the blue leather and 19's. Thats alot of car for the money if its been well looked after.

Not really about about losing money on selling it more getting the best one for the outlay. I was thinking he could hold out for a csl at £20k

I've only been out in one but i loved it. Tiptronic box wasnt too smooth.
I'd be looking at them myself for £10-13k lol

furkin love them i do

will probably get an E46 when i'm done with the E36 cab i reckon....although i hate buying cars that lose money

i normally tend to at least break even on the cars i own...but with so many around it'd be hard to do with an E46 i think.

dont think you will see a csl for 20k for a long time they are going to stay well above 25 imo for the next year at least. And its never a right time to by a bmw m3 you can never predict a crash all i will say is the model to go for without losing a penny would be the left hooker evo models think they are e30
