im curious as to what people do with the front legs, as the hubs are supposed to have a drive shaft through them, do most people just leave the c.v joint in to hold the bearing together and run them like that or is there some thing else you can do?

That seems to be the easiest option.

how hard did you find it to convert to rwd?

How did you know the engine would be in the right position? did you just do it to suit where the gearstick sits?

get a tape measure and i would say get the gear box and engine sitting in the middle of the car

measure twice cut once lol

or u could drop the engine down and back like zoo's but i think that is a lot of work

I got my engine support cradle and gearbox mount from the States where someone had already spent hours working out the best position.

I'm using a wider gearbox (auto) than was originally used so I had to cut out more of the floor to get it in. It meant a lot of measuring cutting and trial fit of engine / gearbox.

All my rear 4 link was also from the same source and had been designed for easy fitting.

Mine is the first Right hand drive version attempted so I had to play around with steering racks / shafts and exhaust manifolds to get everything to fit.

Gearshift is not fixed to the box on an auto so I just lined it up with the original stick position.

If you are starting from scratch, you need the engine as low and as far back as you can, but it's all a compromise with steering, exhaust and how much to cut out of the bulkhead and floor.

Don't make anything permanent untill the very end when you have covered absolutely everything.

Mounting the engine and gearbox in the best place is not too difficult, it's the steering that causes the biggest problem.

Steering racks on front wheel drive cars tend to be behind the engine, exactly where you will have your RWD gearbox, so you will need a rack from a rear wheel drive car mounted forward under the sump.

why not just buy an old sapph and cut the floor out?
doesnt have to be a cossie or anything as im sure the floors are all the same
