If its a Windows OEM or Windows home as stated you will not be able to install it due to Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) which is an anti-piracy system enacted by Microsoft that enforces Microsoft Windows online validation of the authenticity of several recent Microsoft operating systems...... Which means soon as your sister puts the laptop online Microsoft will shut it down

Not that it can't be got around apparently

I got around the WGA on my laptop by installing Linux

It dosent seem to have English installed. Its not a dodgy laptop or anything. Its just Polish, it might of even been bought here cus i know the guy has lived in England for a while and is brand new. I just got it cheap and thought it would be a goog pressie for my sis.

I just dont know how to sort it, ive tried changing the language in the regional options!

So So True.. but theres no license key issues, WGA on Linux

Mind you then you would just spend the rest of your life explaining how to use it to your sister

Buy some polish lessons for your sister this Christmas, that will solve the problem

I think it would be easier for her to learn Polish than for me to fix this damn laptop!

im in West London and I don't like Pizza enough to travel to Lincoln.

if the polish laptop is runnin XP I believe you should just click "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel" and then "Regional and Language Options" to find the language... change this to English and then it should ask for the Windows CD... you can use any Windows CD for this purpose as its simply looking for language files

If you need to re-install your copy of windows, just call them when it says, tell them that you are re-bilding the machine and windoze is not installed anywhere else and they will give you a key
