Default How do you cap boost?

For different gears...Probably an easy answer, But I don't know...

Is it just a case of mapping the ECU and telling it to hit what ever psi?

But how does it know what gear your in? Say you want 10psi less in 3rd gear than you do in 5th gear

Thank you

I thought mordern cars do it by knowing what road speed you are doing compared to what revs, so they know exactly what gear you are in .

modern cars do - the abs sensors are utilised.

however, i suspect that we're talking about a 20 year old datsun sunny here, and trying to stop it breaking the gearbox

Wrong,

When dingy took me out in his Mk2, He was telling me about the boost etc, and when he gave it some in 3rd, he pointed at the boost gauge and said "it only goes to xPSI to stop it spinning up in 3rd" And I hadnt heard of it before, So just wondered

I wasnt in the position to ask him a the time, As with his bernie box,a T4 and warp likness feeling... I couldnt care what boost capping was

Mike, I don't launch it...
