Remove the glovebox by giving it a good firm pull and the ECU is behind there.

It is the bottom silver box for the engine ECU, the top one is the ABS ecu

ECU on 4x4 is indeed L8 - non cat cars are red sticker and cat cars are green sticker - exactley the same hardware, just the software that differs slightly for lambda control on latter models (green sticker).

The loom is nearly the same, but the L8 has the TPS wires the opposite way round for the outer 2 and also has a knock sensor unlike the L1 and L6

L8 is mounted in a frame behind the glove box lid, drop the lid and pull it towards you to remove it from the clips......you will then see the L8 and ABS ecus in the mounting frame....

4x4 engine loom is different

Open the glove box, and carefully remove (dont force it - she should come out easily).

Hey presto - ECU is behind!

Loom almost the same - the TPS is different on the 4x4. and the rest depends on spec (eg Knock sensor etc)

The TPS voltage goes the wrong way I think

And as mentioned, there's a knock sensor too.
