Default Black number plates...............

Whats the score with black number plates? Ive seen so many cars lately new and old with them. But thought they had to be only on pre '73 cars?! Any info??

we used to have them on our black mk4 gold v5, as said above looked smart as fook untill the coppers on the enduro bikes come after you!

just had to change them over, luckly we had originals in boot.

so if you do modify the letters. colour or size just keep the originals in boot with a screw driver, dont give any lip and say i will change them over now

only vehicles registered pre jan 1973 can legally display black n silver plates


anything else, as stated above is a fine if the copper that pulled you didn't get his oats last night

I run them on my Mini and so far haven't had any bother.... the fact it looks like its from the 60's probably helps though (B plate, '96 registered)

My Mini got pulled, and I got a £30 fine on the spot

Car was a P plate, 1997 Mini

Had black plates on all my cars never once been pulled, but the chap i sold my last car 2 got done twice in 3 weeks, i suppose its all down 2 luck n where u drive

Had them on now for a few months and never been pulled, ive had traffic cars come pass me, ive had panda cars behind me in traffic
