Default max bhp/torque on std 2.0 zetec rods?

anyone got any idea? ie from failures?

want to run alot of nitrous on the n/a zetec lump ive got in my fiesta and think the rods are going to be the limiting factor.

Anyone ever had one fail under compression at all?

Nitrous exerts LESS force on the rods in terms of stretch than without nitrous, so if its just revs that kill them he is laughing as he wont be revving any higher.

rev to 6800 with std bolts or 7200 with rod bolts

i have not had any first hand evidence of a rod letting go, so i guess there is only one way to find out stu!

i heard it was 7200 with std bolts, anything over that needed arps? either way i wont be revving it much past the 6800 mark anyway.

there is only one way to find out if nobody knows isnt there

but running std rods is better than buying steel ones if i dont need them!

if it does the rods what have i lost? potentially 50 quids worth of zetec block and a load of time off the road. not the end of the world.

if its a certainty that it wont do 300bhp/300lb/ft then i will change em but id imagine a 300bhp zvh is making WELL over 300lb/ft of torque....

Standard rods have gone past 300bhp before, non shot peened i beleive too.

Generally 300 is ok from what i understand.

'Turboboss' from here had a dynod 330bhp on his old engine with standard rods.

My mate's rods let go at 9k rpms with ARP's, the bolts held in place but the rod itself snapped and the oil pump gave up at 8k

This is what happened

yeah oil pumps are renowned for dying at 8k+. im on std cams for the minute, may go for some fast road jobbies at some point, but still wont be revving it much past 7k. no interest in revvy peaky engines, id sooner have the torque and drivability!

As johnny says, we did a kompressor black top mondeo engine with 465bhp and over 500nm on a totally std bottomend.
The oilpump keept on going as we reved it over 8000rpm but the rods were fine, no problem.
I´d say 350-400bhp max and not over 7800rpm
After that we wanted to turbo it, but dident finish the project

Here is the manifold we were gonna use

Thats a blacktop tho, they are bettewr than the silvertops!

a silver top WONT do 450bhp and 7800 rpm on a std bottom end, well, not without the fucking big bang anyway

No your not
I haven`t got that many pics, but it was with a std bottom end portet black top, custom cams, focus-central racing 4-1 manifold, biggest ever ROTREX compressor, rover inlet, haltech management.
All this was in a totally stripped mondeo mk2 with vintertyres, and KW suspension, funny car
Will try to find some more pics anywhere
