right i have been currently working for royal mail as a postie for 4 years now in a very very hilly area so fitness is not a problem for me plus i use the gym 3 days a week and getting up is also easy as im up at 3.30 - 4am
. due to royal mail going downhill fast with the strikes, them trying to add a pay as you go job, losing early shift allowence and later start times i have decided to look on - the later start times fuck me up on saturdays becuase im a season ticket holder for a football club - im sure my siggy gives it away
ideally id like to go into panel beating and spraying or something along these lines but i dont think i could live on apprentice hours, this is my biggest regret at not starting something like this at 16 when i left school - instead i done my a-levels and gained some qualifications in IT but im contemplating whether to go for a job in IT.
as for work, im looking for something active where im doing something all the time - physically (not labouring for builders
), monday-friday, sorry i cant sit in an office all day to be honest taking phone calls and dealing with paper work!
rough pay of 20-25k, i cleared just under 25k last year with the overtime i done
i locacted in west wickham, kent, so please put some ideas into my head - ive seen a few jobs i may like so any other imput is great!
regards

building industry is where all the work is and where the money is getting very nice indeed, and so much construction work is planned in the next couple of decades that it aint going away
there is so many different vocations in construction, site setting out is a easy-ish one to get into that earns well.

if you want physical work i agree with percygun, my m8 is a labourer with some groundworking skills just gained through experience and is on Ł15+ per hour, so dont turn your nose up at it.
IT work? physical? not on your nelly!!! Plus most IT jobs unless you're specialised or lucky does not pay well...i should know
good luck mate.
ps hgv pays well, easy'ish to get into, but not physical....early starts tho and pays ok if you do oddball shifts/hours.
