I wouldn't say it was anti lag though....i'd say it was more optimisation of turbo performance.....

agreed, and it's nothing like the effect of launch control either

but it seems relatively simple and cheap to implement something like it, and it should be more durable than ALS

Stavros & buzznwood

After reading some 8 years ago that Cosworth used a low lag device on their F1 turbo engines I always wanted to know what it was.
Understood how it worked from Stavros's text & pics but the link to the patents images are utterly

THANKYOU

one more thing then, again, apologies for possibly sounding thick, but that first pic with the variable vane thingy is in the fixed part of the compressor or exhaust on the turbo normally on a variable vane turbo?

Its fitted directly in front of the inlet of the fixed compressor housing (inline with the compressor wheel).
Its a static part apart from the blades that rotate upto 90 degrees.
Its nothing to do with the exhaust side or a VTN turbo.
Not sure if this device was ever used with a VTN turbo, most F1 turbo's had a fixed turbine housing Area/Radius (A/R ratio).
