When did it happen? When was the last time it was working fine? What have you installed since it was last working fine?

My advice? Do a System Restore back to the day before it began going tits up. so if you know it was working fine yesterday, then do a Sys Restore to Friday....

hmmm - have to got internet options set to dial a default connection ?

If you have as soon as it gets tiny internet issue it will try and dial out on another connection and may even bring up a dialup dialog. When this fails it may put your internet into offline mode and then fuck you....

I prefer IE7 over Firefox.... I agree FF is better than IE6, but IE7, IMO, is better than FF - looks nicer, I prefer it's operation and navigation....

I live and preach Microsoft technologies, however I can tell you that IE under the hood is a complete and utter pile of shite not forgetting the huge security issues it will always have due to it being so integrated into the OS.

Hence why I would always recommend firefox (or even opera). If I was ever in charge of the IT for a company I would actually ban the use of IE..piece of shite!

Dannn - that maybe true, but I still haven't had a problem with IE, bar one issue a few years ago running IE6 where I had a BHO install itself and hijack my browser. That did fuck my system and needed a reinstall..... But since then, with the proper care and security installation I haven't, touch wood, had a problem, and have been running IE7 for a good while now (year or so?) since it came out of BETA into a full release....

Suits me fine and I've grown accustomed to it now

Just goes to show - should always tackle a problem when it arises and not months later

Not a lot else you can do really Fil - you could try using your windows CD to repair it, but you could end up reinstalling and lose everything......

sounds like you just can't connect
have you tried checking the connections?
broke the locking clip on mine and it would do the same as you describe as it wasn't hooking up
